How many times did we give the ball to the Mags ?
How many shots straight at their goalie ?
S.B in despair after warm weather training and
two weeks in preparation for this game.
Also 4 players back from injury.

After the Leicester game I was in the 'Bruce Out' bracket.

Now is too late. No transfer window for a new man to work some magic. May as well stick with Bruce now and see if Phelan can help out tactically.

If worst comes to worst and we go down, then at least Bruce seems to be respected enough by players to attract them to our club, and puts us in a strong position, ala QPR last season under Redknapp.

There seems to be a lot of similarities to the second season under Brownie - the main mistakes that season was 1.leaving it too late to get rid and 2. not giving him until the end of the season after it was too late to change anything.

firstly today was a new low for me, the desire, the ability and the confidence are all at an all time low from what was displayed here. I still have faith, call it blind faith, that Bruce will turn things around, but if we were to get rid, who in actual fact would come in to replace him in our current predicament, you can bet your life that the Championship managers doing well aren`t going to risk their hard earned reputations coming here. I feel for Bruce and have done for the full season, he has had to deal with ridiculous amounts of injuries and suspensions, and today the returning players looked like they needed another 2 weeks to get up to speed. Looking at the table it still isn`t beyond recovery yet, perhaps Micky Phelan, if he chooses to come in, may be the spark we need, a change of ideas, and perhaps if the two new signings come off this may give us a little more. It`s a worry for sure, that our so called bigger players, the likes of Huddleston, Hernandez, Livermore and Davies aren`t performing andf this is where Brucey needs to earn his coin. Its not looking good at the moment, not after today, but results have yet again gone for us, the quicker some new ideas come in, hopefully with Phelan, the bettr for me. I just think Brucey is in a dilemma at the moment that he knows he has the so called quality in the squad, but just doesn`t seem to be able to get them to perform at the moment for whatever reason.

To the question who can we get in?

Well, who could do any worse?

We could draw names out of a hat and whoever gets picked couldn't do a worse job of getting the team playing that Cushionface. Besides, another man might have different ideas on how to utilise the players and mould Bruce's band of individuals into a team.

It would be nice to see the midfield be given the green light to break ranks and attack like every other midfield in the world every once in awhile too.

Don't forget the fat wobbly **** surrendered our Europa League place. This league form would be satisfactory alongside a European adventure, but to surrender the prospect of European football then serve up this dross is poo.

I was optimistic coming into the game today, buoyed by news of new signings and a new assistant.

However, that was one of the worst performances I have seen. There's no change - we are consistently crap. We are experts at giving teams with equal recent playing records at the time we play them we give them a lift up by letting them humiliate us. Burnley, Leicester, Newcastle, West Brom. I can't see anything changing, we have no plan B and the pace at which we move the ball forwards is pedestrian. We don't shoot from distance - Newcastle scored the first 2 goals by shooting from distance - we always want to get to the 6 yard line.

We're running out of games and I'm running out of faith that Bruce has the ability to change our fortunes

At the beginning of the season a few clubs would taken him has manager if they had an opening
    I bet they wouldn't now
If plan A fails then try plan A game plan

The only good thing about this thread coming on here every week is we get to see the continued support for Steve Bruce from the majority of posters on here. In the age where managers are sacked continuously its nice to see.

If we hadn't won a couple of games recently, I think he'd have been gone by now, but those wins have saved him, as it's too late now.

    No

I tend to think the players let him down big style today.

Maybe it was too cold for them

    Grrrrr

    Just got home..

Certain players need to be dropped and given a boot up the arse

You know that Bruce is in charge of who plays, right?

Obviously it was an awful performance - but that's what you get when you continue playing a central midfield that hasn't worked for a year, and playing half the team out of position.

Bruce obviously isn't interested in dropping players, or changing it - so let's drop him.

Granted he's not everyone's cup of tea, but if premier league safety is the number one priority then he would have been the man to go to in the short term to achieve that task. The camp is not happy, Bruces body language was terrible today, he looked lost on the touuchline. Lennon or NDoyne won't help the situation as the CM is the place where we need strengthening. I feel not replacing Bruce in this window will cost us big time. Out of interest if Bruce was to go who would you like to see replace him? I hope I'm proved wrong, we have a big month coming up!! Bruce doesn't match the ambitions and squad ability?! Did I really just read that? Your squad is full of fairly expensively acquired averageness, as is historically the case when Steve is given money. If Steve should be sacked for anything, it's actually the shape of your squad, never mind people saying he should be sacked because he's not as good as the players at his disposal.

We won unfairly today. Two low on confidence teams, first goal was always gonna divine the winner.

Hull will be fine. Your squad is worthy of about 12-17th (much like us), injuries largely dictating where in the spread you'll fall, and you've been unlucky. There's no special aura, no worldy players, for you it's as for me, another season of complete disappointment as we once again support a club that will achieve **** all with a bang-average squad...

Bruce is fantastic as a man-manager as someone said, great going in with existing players and getting the best from them, but for the love of god don't give him the chequebook. EVER. Soon as someone realises this and appoints a technical director above him to sign players, his career track-record will improve, rather than hopping from lower mid-table teams to lower mid-table teams once he's abused the resources.

I will add my pennies worth. Firstly I left 10 minutes early today and that is something I have never ever done , even in the dark bleak days in the 80's , I always stay and applaud the lads off even if we lose but today they didn't deserve or earn my applause at the end and it was bloody cold ! I still believe Bruce will lead us to safety but the players must take some blame for the position we find ourselves in , we all can accept defeat but it's the manner that we lose that really hurts, little effort , no desire , passion , committment etc, you name it we lack it. Huddlestone & Livermore are going through the motions every week now and they both have to shoulder responsibility during games but with confidence low they keep it simple and pass sideways / backwards far to often which increases the pressure which ends up in mistakes. Two massive home games coming up and performances have to improve ten fold. I have faith but it is wavering thin with each passing game.
