They said that it would be "almost impossible". Given that the keeper himself called it embarrassing when Giroud suggested such a move last year, why do you think it's still a possibility? Spurs simply wouldn't sell him to you, especially as other, bigger, wealthier clubs would be interested in him. Real Madrid and PSG would be the most obvious examples.
What authority do they have to say that ? Any decision would be between the player and the clubs. Lloris said that it was 'embarrasing' the way that Giroud's words had been twisted linking him to Arsenal. Giroud commented when asked about Lloris moving to Arsenal : "He would have liked to, he would quite like to. You will have to ask him the question." and I suspect there was probably a bit more context to Giroud's words. Lloris didn't say the move itself would be embarrassing. I think most players have to issue a denial when these types of stories come out. They have to really, out of respect for their club and the fans. It's not to say it couldn't happen though, Sol Campbell is testament to the possibility of important Spurs players making the shift to the bigger North London club. Obviously there would have to be an agreement between both clubs, but if Lloris was intent on staying in London, then Arsenal would be an attractive option being able to offer him Champions League football, which Lloris is quoted as saying he is aiming to play in.
Ok Piskie, you continue to believe it if you want. I've explained why it's a non-story and why it won't happen, but carry on.
I'm just commenting on the possibility of it, you don't know that it won't happen. If Spurs miss out on CL football again, then the possibility increases.
It won't happen. You'd have to be very silly to believe there's a chance that it will. I probably shouldn't be surprised, really.
It's unlikely at the moment, but if Spurs miss out on CL football again, then Lloris, having made clear his ambitions to play at the top level might want out of Spurs. We all know that Levy is a selling chairman if the right price is offered and given that Spurs will be thinking about how to fund a potential new stadium, then they could find themselves in a similar position that Arsenal faced, where we had to sell our most valuable players to pay for the stadium. Whilst it's likely that clubs like PSG and Real Madrid would be interested, it also depends on the player. Arsenal would be an attractive option for him given the French connection with Wenger, Debuchy, Koscielny and Giroud and the huge pull of playing Champions League football and the fact that he wouldn't have to up sticks and move his home and family. Either way, you cannot say with any certainty that it won't happen. Spurs fans told us that Bale would never be sold. Sol Campbell also said he'd never move to Arsenal and ended up one of the most decorated players of his generation after his move to us. So, whilst it looks unlikely, the ingredients are there.
No, they're not. He may leave Spurs, but he won't join Arsenal. It's that simple. Suggesting that he'd choose Arsenal over Real Madrid or PSG is pretty funny, though. Good joke.
Out of the way, you soppy Gooners! The mighty Spurs juggernaut is coming through!!!! **** yourselves, as you hear the awesome roar of that mighty engine!
Possibly. The spending power of PSG and Real are hard to match and we know that Levy will hawk out his players to the highest bidder.
So, you're trying to tell us all that you have no shred of worry - none whatsoever - that we might finish above you this season?
Spurs always seem to find new and inventive ways to **** it up. Even when it looks like they are building some momentum, they have an uncanny knack of shooting themselves in the foot. We've seen some hilarious last minute blunders from the spuds just when it looked like they might finish above Arsenal. There was of course Lasagna gate, then Fulop gate, we had Sugar gate with his 'ghost goal' tweet and the hilarious scenes with spud fans celebrating one minute to then find out Sugar had got it wrong and more recently we've had £110m gate where Spurs spunked their cash away and finished way off the pace. I'm almost certain that you'll find a way to finish below us again this season. It must be a subconscious thing, you know your place is below us in the pecking order and if there's any hint of you finishing above us, you subconsciously sabotage yourselves.
Spurs above Arsenal at present. Long way to go though. City not too far clear of the pack now either.
