Saving Gerrard for the FA Cup against Bolton it seems. Looks like Rodgers is actually managing Gerrard's playing time properly after he played 120 minutes against Chelsea mid week. Shame he didn't do something similar earlier in the season though.
If we have 1 defender on the bench they are usually only going to be Johnson or Lovren with Enrique seemingly not favoured anymore. Hard to pick which I'd prefer to have, probably Johnson as at least he can play RB, less of a threat to our goal at RB than Lovren is a CB

You're right - this is a squad game. But when you spend £23m on a player, i expect him to be playing more often than not. Fact is - he's not better than Sterling or Coutinho so who does he replace? Lallana is a decent squad player and for £10m, I'd be happy. But he didn't - he was our MARQUEE signing/ And now he's been found as a player who offers quite little on the ball but because he runs around like a little dog, its fine. The issue here is that we spunk far too much money on average players.
FFS it's not like Lallana is dropped for having a mare, he's competing with some of the best talent in the league #begrateful

He is close. He fits our style perfectly. And yes we should because otherwise the moment what we have is injured or in bad form we're ****ed.
Lallana is a very good player. He was one of the standout midfielders last season for me, constantly tearing teams apart and working his bollocks off at the same time - which a lot of technically gifted players don't. At Saints, he linked up with a proper striker, floating balls over the top or through gaps as they went beyond the shoulder. Here, he's been playing with Mario (lol) and only recently Sterling who he's not really played with enough to get much understanding like Coutinho has had 2 years to do. When he's played with Lambert, he's looked better. Give him time. Very talented player. Very suited to our style. I can see him playing brilliantly with Sturridge and then all this silly talk of being a 10mill player will fade.
Assuming all fit and in form then yes. I wouldn't have Sturridge, Sterling and Markovic all start together, save one (not Sturridge) for later when the pace can have bigger impact.
He would start on the left. He can also play on the right but if I wanted to do some inside-out play that would be an in-game change. It's not necessarily a front 3.
