Done my duty. This is a disgrace and I'm very pleased to see you've highlighted the problem here Ernie. Thanks for trying to do the country a favour.

I'd love them to hack my phone. The newspaper could carry the story Revealed: Britain's Least Interesting Man

Alas Cosi, I think it's a lost cause, these types are above the law it seems, in fact they actually influence the law, paying the police for information allegedly, hacking and deleting the phone messages of a missing person, God knows what else, what sort of despicable greedy bastards are these people, Murdoch employs them so he is ultimately responsible, in my opinion, company culture and all that.

Yes, you're right Ernie. I'm well aware of it too.
In my petition, I did not use the standardised text but alluded to our Police State (the UK), freedom of information, and freedom of expression. There is such an effective means of disinformation from our press that the population remain largely ignorant and most definitely deliberately disconnected. Murdoch fits in with this philosophy very nicely though doesn't he?

This country needs a revolution but the powers that be are more effective in this country than any other, at preventing any effective uprising, by not allowing large scale communication (other than that which they choose to put out).

To put it bluntly, it is in the interests of those who wield power to ensure that the masses remain ignorant and disunited.

considering the phone hacking storm you'd have to say that if this deal goes through it's pretty obvious pressure has been applied.

Miggins, this Millie Dowler thing is totally out of order and could have had serious consequences for the family, the people who carried out and those who sanctioned these actions must be charged and prosecuted, without which, this country will be proven to have no justice whatsoever.

Murdoch is ultimately responsible for creating an environment within his businesses where his managers (the likes of the toxic Rebekah Brooks and the obnoxious Andy Coulson) felt obliged to foster an atmosphere that encouraged such criminal and deplorable behaviour.

However, don't overlook the direct culpability of the British public, who continue to buy and derive titillation from this sleazy excuse for news. As one of the major forces for evil in the world, Murdoch may have steered the tastes and interests of British society but the public and our successive governments haven't exactly complained about it.

This hacking has gone too far. To give credit to murdoch, it is only his tabloids that seem to do it, i haven't seen the times in trouble for it yet (thankfully, i like the times, it's a good paper)

Oh, well - that's alright then. It's only his tabloid newspapers that completely destroy people's lives for the salacious titillation of others. He's not so bad after all, then, is he? <doh>

But this is the whole suppressive, repressive point isn't it!

It is the popular press which is the most effective means of propaganda which nurtures the very belief system which supports it! The perpetrators; the operators of this insidious machinery, cannot keep straight faces at the fact that the foolish plebs - the 'masses' who know no better because they are being force-fed - are actually paying for their own propaganda. Directly!

It's not far removed from forcing everyone to eat crap at the only restaurant (and charging them for the privilege), or charging Jews for their final rail tickets…
