Not sure where you're coming from with that - no amount of savvy coaching, organisation or tactics can overcome an atrocious referee. For 92 minutes we needlessly played a man short - and the only blame for that lies with an incompetent official, not the team, not the coach.
Bournemouth used their man advantage very well and kept us on the run. I am afraid that 11 v 10 can be overcome sometimes, but the Cherries knew what to do and second half could have scored more. The ref got this badly wrong and didn't get much help from his linos. Really hope that we appeal as it was a straight red, though I doubt that we would win that either.
....and yet, without all these, we are still in the top 6 of the division and have scored 56 goals! Must be pretty terrible coaching, organisation and tactics eh? Are you sure you're not StainesAtter? It is the overall record after 46 games that will decide our fate, not games against the top 8.
Thanks for the openess to some reality, I will now sign off and go off to Gloryhorns ......enjoy your delusions and settling for mediocrity
I'm sorry, but I just cannot stand someone who comes on this board so very infrequently (15 messages for goodness sake) and then just slags off the whole setup, board members and football club. GloryHorns is welcome to his negativity.
As I say, thanks for your openess. And I I have never said anything about the whole setup, the board members or the football club!!!!
what you said is true BUT i think most on here will agree that the additions of watson and layun makes us stronger if the only way we lose is having a player sent off then we will go up in top spot
Well, given that the ref wrecked the game, I am sort of encouraged. The loss of the 3 points is a real shame, but I seriously was not impressed with Bournemouth. I know they could do a Burnley, but I have thought for some time whoever finishes above derby or middlesboro will be in the top 2. After tonight, nothing has changed my view. I do credit them with being very mobile down the flanks - but against 10 that is the easy bit. If AFC B were that good, it would have been 4 or 5. With a bit of luck, we'd have got a pen for handball, watson would have got one, and deeney could have shot first time.... Ok it's all if's but I'm trying to cheer us all up. I do think top 6 is still certain, but top 2 requires a lot of luck, like we didn't get tonight. Deeney was tremendous, much better than the AFC B 'strikers'. Anyway, At least we are avoiding 'manager of the month'. The only problem is, we might need it one month soon! COYH
I meant the members of this board - not the football club - as you know all too well. You called us rose-tinted, deluded - how damned rude is that? How can you expect "openess", whatever you mean by that, when you just use this board to slang us off? You directly criticised the coaching setup so if that's not having a go at the club, then I don't know what is. You have offered not one iota of positivity. What is your solution to the lack of "Championship savvy coaching, organisation, tactics etc etc"? And, lastly, with an attitude like you have, why do you care about Watford FC?
A lot of refs decide not to send a player off in the first minute, even if its deserved. He must of been 100% sure it was correct.
BBH....he might well have thought he was 100% correct otherwise he would not have acted as he did. That doesn't make him right though. It would seem that he was in a bit of a minority over that one.
Another half wit official who has absolutely no idea as to what constitutes a red card. An completely egotistical decision with more than a hint of "I am the great I am" about it and no idea that a clear goal scoring opportunity is not denied when there is covering player and the the goalkeeper will be first to the ball. A crass decision. No objection to the penalty. As a former keeper I do wish Gomes had stood still, but hey. I thought Watson was a bit of a passenger, conspicuous by his absence one half chance aside. At the end of the day we weren't good enough but that is from a hamstrung position. 2-0 isn't so bad, it could've been much worse.
I never saw any of it as you probably guessed. To have any chance of winning taken away from you in the first minute is a choker but that is football. I would of felt really pissed off.
Something I've said often before, I don't like 11 v 10, whether it's us or the opposition losing a player. Too often it spoils the game as a spectacle. By all means send a player off if it's justified, but I'd rather see a substitute allowed and perhaps longer suspensions to compensate.
