I'm just trying to remember who it was we beat in that final. Oh, I remember now, it was that lot from west London. You know, the same side that we handed their arses to them at WHL very recently.....:)

  2. If it had been Arsenal who had got through to the final, PESKIE would have been jerking all over his computer screen.

  3. I'm happy we've got Chelsea, too. We seem to be able to hammer them quite easily.

If we had had 'Pool, we'd have lost to a dodgy decision made by the ref.

The big London clubs are still in the important domestic cup. You lot have fun in the milkyway cup or whatever it is now.

I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't consider it a big deal. The FA cup final was kind of a big deal, but ultimately for a club like Arsenal the League and Champions League are the prizes we are aiming for. Good luck to Spurs though, it gives you a chance to win your third league cup in 24 years and you have to take what you can get and celebrate the trophies that you can win. Although you'll need to get past Maureen first.

ULTIMATELY, that's those are the prizes we all aim for. Realistically, however, you haven't won the Premiership in eleven years, nor do you look like doing so. And you've never won The C.L. Yes, you won The F.A. Cup. So, as you say, you have to take what you can get.

The F.A. Cup is often viewed as more prestigious because of its long history. In reality, the same teams are in the league cup, so it's just as difficult to win it.

Yes, it does get a bit tedious, doesn't it?

I just ignore him unless he has something sensible to say. That rumour is bollocks, and he knows it....

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just relaying today's transfer rumours. L'Equipe is well respected so there may be something in it.

L'Equipe didn't write that, though. I assumed that you realised that, but you appear to have been duped by a fellow Goon.

    Hideous, isn't it?

He took the story from the French paper, which discussed the current national team and their playing circumstances, then twisted it to make some money.
The original article talked about where players currently were and how some might improve their chances or performances.
It suggested that playing Champions League football would be good for Hugo Lloris, then mentioned Arsenal's keeper problem.
It went on to rubbish the possibility of such a move, saying that it was a virtual impossibility.

Still, what can you expect from Arsenal fans? Better than that, I thought, but he is trying to be a journalist, so it's somewhat par for a rather ****ty course.

I don't subscribe to L'equipe so I haven't read the whole story. But plenty of other media outlets are running the story, although it's likely it's all come from the same source.

    http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/arsenal-planning-shock-summer-move-tottenham-goalkeeper-hugo-lloris-1485919

It was a Spurs spokesperson who 'rubbished' the possibility of Lloris moving to Arsenal, but like the Mandy Rice Davies quip, he would say that wouldn't he ?

There may be nothing to it, but Wenger was interested in signing Lloris before and with Szczesny not really improving as was expected he might go back in the transfer market for Lloris, who at 28 might want to make the step up to a Champions League club, if he can't achieve that with Spurs.

L'Equipe rubbished it themselves. They created the story and various disingenuous journalists have run with it, because that's easier than actual work.
The idea of a sale to Arsenal is ridiculous for a variety of reasons, but I'm sure that you're already aware of that.
Should Lloris demand a move, which there's no evidence of happening, then there's be a large number of teams lining up to sign him.

Have you got the relevant quote from L'equipe where they 'rubbish' the speculation ? I don't subscribe so I can't see the whole story.

It might be unlikely, given the rivalry. But it wouldn't be the first time a big star from Spurs has joined Arsenal. Also given the French connection at Arsenal, it could be a good option for him should he want to stay in London. If he joined Arsenal he would be playing with three of his French international team mates, two of them the very same defenders in front of him in the national squad, Debuchy and Koscielny.
