They have made an enquiry about him according to SSN. I would sell him this month personally, because he won't get any game time ahead of Michael Carrick and Daley Blind.
Good luck to him if he gets another couple of years somewhere, he's been a loyal member of the staff. All these recent 'he's **** get rid of him' posts are a bit distasteful considering the condition he suffers from. How he even got out of bed half the time, let alone played football, is a minor miracle.
Its admirable but at the same time he hasn't been up to standard. Hope he can go on and finish his career at the top level though as at his best, he was a great servant of the club.
Fletcher was a very underrated player in his prime, I remember the night in the CL semi final against Arsenal when he was sent off wrongly and had to miss the final. Fletcher had been brilliant in midfield all season, and I believe we'd of put up a better showing against Barca in the final with him, as he'd of given us more energy in midfield to close down there passing game. Since his return he hasn't quite been the same player, so maybe it's time to sell him. He's not likely to get much game time when all are fit, so it would be a good move for him
I wouldn't mind seeing him move on, as long as the club honours SAF's pledge to find him a role once he finally does hang up his boots. He may not have been as good as Giggs and Scholes, but he was easily as loyal and professional as them. I think he'd do great work as a coach, given the high level he managed to reach with quite limited natural ability.
Just Ando, Clevs, Evans, Amos, Valencia and maybe Young that need shipping out but Fletcher has been a loyal servant to the club and good luck to him
Totally agree with this. But he peaked in 2009 and the next 2 seasons his performances deteriorated considerably. During 2009 to 2011, seeing the midfield pairing of Carrick and Fletcher was painful to watch. Without doubt the first alarm bells that our midfield needed rebuilding. I wish him well, but it really is best for the club and for him.
I thought he was outstanding in 09/10 tbh. He really stepped up his role in the team after Ronaldo and Tevez left, and was a proper box to box CM that year. Didn't he make PL team of the year as well? It wasn't until the end of that season and the start of the next that he really started to deteriorate, as his condition got progressively worse.
Darren Fletcher is set to leave #mufc and sign for West Ham United on a three-and-a-half year deal. [Jason Burt].
Confirmed by the club today that they will let him go on a free transfer. Always a shame to see a dedicated and talented pro like Fletcher move on, but hopefully West Ham can give him a few more playing years. A great servant to the club.
Word is united are going broke trying to pay for his medical bills so releasing him was the only option
