Finally confirmed. Good luck to him, figured this deserved its own thread. Well played by the club too.

    http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...becomes-official-club-ambassador-2235071.aspx

The Tigers are proud to announce that Dean Windass has agreed a new role to become the club’s first ever official Club Ambassador as of 2 February.

Hull born and bred, Dean has been one of the most important figures in the Tigers’ history, making his debut in 1991 under then manager Terry Dolan.

After his sale to Aberdeen in 1995 saved the club from an impending tax bill, Dean returned to the Tigers in 2007 following spells at Oxford United, Bradford City, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United. His goal on the penultimate weekend of the 2006/07 season at Cardiff was enough to keep the Tigers in the Championship, and the following year it was his perfectly executed volley at Wembley in the Championship Play-Off Final against Bristol City that saw the club achieve promotion to the Premier League.

In the last year Dean has returned to the KC Stadium to entertain guests in the corporate lounges on match days, and last December he travelled to India with club officials to represent the Tigers at the Barclays Premier League Live event.

Dean’s new role will see him representing the football club at local schools and community events as well as having increased responsibilities on match days and also assist the media department.

Speaking about his new role, ‘Deano’ expressed his delight at returning to his hometown club once again: “It’s a great honour to be an ambassador for Hull City. I’ve always had a special affinity with the club and always will do. I spent many happy years at the club and achieved some of my greatest sporting accolades whilst playing here, so I was delighted to be asked to take up this role.

“I've been doing a little bit of work with the club on match days anyway so this new position is really an extension of that. I thought it would be great to get involved with this magnificent club again and I'm delighted it's come to fruition. The great thing is I love the club and I will have the best interests of Hull City at heart as I go about my work. The ambassador role is perfect. I love dealing with people face to face, I am a people person so it's a fantastic challenge and one I can't wait to start.

“It's been an amazing journey for me. I've been a fan, a player and now I'm going behind-the-scenes to help on the commercial/marketing side of things. I'm really looking forward to it. As a lad from this area, this club means everything to me and I feel privileged to be back involved. Hull City has always been my club – since I was six years of age - and I look forward to working with the owners and all the office staff to try and promote us across our region and beyond.”

Marketing and Communications Manager James Mooney said: “We are delighted to have Deano back involved with us. He expressed to the owners how much it meant to him to work for the club on match days and the way he represented us in India was exceptional – Dean is so proud to be from Hull and the football club would not be in the position it is today without the foundations laid by him and several other ex-players over the years.”

Dean’s new role will officially start on 2nd February 2015.

Good for him - getting a job representing the Club - HULL CITY.

    (Much overuse of 'The Tigers')

Until doing a little bit of research I didn't know this had happened, I suppose it can only be seen as a positive from the club, despite our poor attempt at getting users to like our new Hull Tigers India twitter page, the only replies they get are from local Hull City fans complaining about it. <doh>

A very good appointment both for the club and for Dean Windass personally. One of our own through and through.

You don't think his comments were vetted before going on the official site?

Do you wake up each morning thinking how much of a **** you can be today?

The idea of him preaching Hull Tigers to kids who don't know better is nauseating.

I was thinking the same, ignoring the quote by Deano it reads:

The Tigers, the club’s, the Tigers’, the club, the Tigers, the Tigers, the club, the Tigers, the football club, his hometown club, the club, the football club.

Some of them are reasonable (we are the Tigers) but articles in the HDM for example start off with 'Hull City' then carry on with Tigers. This is really taking the piss now it sounds ridiculous constantly calling us 'the club' at least call us 'us/we' if you aren't going to call us CITY or even HULL.

This is one of the worse posts I have ever read on the subject. Shameful. Really quite shallow.

It seemed entirely appropriate in this instance, more so than when you used it.

I see the usual suspects are spouting the usual well thought out ****e.

As it stands today, we are Hull City. Apart (as previously pointed out) from Deano f*****g up and calling us Hull City once, it never gets a mention in that post.
As I read it, he is an ambassador for a club that does not actually exist.
I agree with Omega man, this is a disgusting press release and typifies what Allam is all about. He cares f**k all for the fans. Even if they stay up, i reckon they will be lucky to sell 15k passes for next season.
Has Deano's drink driving ban finished yet so it is easier to get to his appointments?
