Yes, I thought about it. No I don't think Vilhena offers that much difference. There's not THAT much variation in the midfield roles and players.. They all can and for the most part do, play box-to-box. More attack-ish midfielders: Prowse, Davis More defensive-ish midfielders: Schniederlin, Wanyama Clasie and Vilhena are the same way. Both are sort of box-to-box guys. Vilhena is/was more attack-ish, but Clasie is better overall. Vilhena hasn't even been playing that much this year.
Undoubtedly..! That episode is... The Ultimate Computer. Luckily, it wasn't called Black Box or HAL9000. It was the M5.
He doesn't want to be at saints so is leaving. His call. People seem really unhappy that we have apparently let him go but he has invariably been offered more money to move so that is that. Add in that once ki is back he will still not be guaranteed a start there either.
Most agreed prior to the window opening that we needed additional players in, as our squad was thin. Then we got ravaged by injuries, and thus far we have one in, and one out. If it remains that way, it is something of a disappointment.
I guess for me at the start of the window I was hoping to sign Bertrand permanently, not happened, Toby permanently, not happened, strengthen the team especially with growing injuries and instead cork leaves. So slightly disappointed, no meltdown and faith in the board who have a great track record but had hoped for more.
There is literally no reason for Ryan or Toby to commit to anything mid-season. Keep your options open.
I hope that we do not come to rue this. I understand why people think it is the right thing, however I would sooner forgo a few million pounds to ensure we have more squad depth until the summer, especially as we have no idea who else may depart then. Most of the squads around us are bigger and a few injuries could cause us problems. I did not want us to be busy in the window, however with Long out for five weeks and the seemingly inevitable departure of Cork we need a few more and it is no guarantee that new faces will fit in straight away.
I am sure Swansea are trying to strengthen but with Carroll, Shelvey and Ki, you are right it will be tough there too.
That is the problem though for us isn't it. We could lose out on both and then if Clyne and Schneiderlin depart we are seemingly in a similar position to last year. I mean this year has worked out well so far but regelling half a squad each year is tough and sometime you are going to come unstuck :s.
We have this every transfer window, people moaning it hasn't good enough. People need to get used to Saints doing it their way. We aren't going to panic buy and buy some player we haven't watched, just because fans seeing us having not much depth. It is better just to sit back and see what happens. By now fans should trust the board. We are definitely trying to get a replacement for Cork, so I see no problem. Yes I too would want another striker, but if Saints feel the right one can't be got in Jan then it's fine.
