The League Cup Final

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 28, 2015.

  1. As you will all probably be aware, the mighty Spurs are going to finish-off Sheffield United, tonight, to book a date with Chelsea in the Cup Final, at Wembley. I thought it would be nice to start this thread, so that posters have a place to express their thoughts, in the build-up to the big day.

In the meantime, by how many do you lads think we'll win by, tonight?

I'm going with 1-3, to make it 1-4 on aggregate.

He who that makes such a prediction is either a bold man or a complete and utter idiot. Posters can decide which according to their opinion.

The match aint been played yet, shipmate, and although I would agree that Spurs are favourite to win, I'll start talking about a Spurs v Chelsea final when it's a fact.

  3. Well, stop with the morality campaign talk and nail your bollocks to the mast, numpty! What's your score-line prediction?

This is football discussion board, isn't it? Or have I accidentally walked into a library?

  5. Kane should have had 4 or 5 in this game!

    It's a turkey-shoot (as I predicted it would be).

  6. Sheffield bring it back to 2-2, to set up a grand-stand finish, but Kane and Eriksen link up nicely to keep the Wembley dream alive!

Start her up, Poch! and get the engine of that juggernaut warm! We've got a Final to catch.

Well, Spurs are in the final.... in the end. Far from being a turkey shoot, Spurs limped across the finishing line after a strong come back by Blades. They got there in the end. Well done them.

They've got a pretty good record against Chelsea in cup finals at Wembley, actually. The last trophy they won, in 2008, was the League Cup by beating Chelsea and of course, the first ever all London FA Cup Final was Chelsea vs Spurs in 1967, again a Spurs win.

So they have history on their side and of course, they have already beaten Chelsea in the league this season. The final could be a good game. I wouldn't like to predict the outcome.

A tad anxious are we? <smiling> It's all part of football's rich tapestry and at least you have the luxury of having a cup final to worry about. Oh, that we had that sort of thing to get nervous over down at The Valley. Our stresses are not the sort that football fans should have heaped upon them.... Being owned by a fat Belgian autocratic asset-stripper who has no genuine interest in the club, aided and abetted by a cynical lawyer, pretending to be a CEO, who is trying (badly) to schmooze the fans and failing dismally. There's revolt slowly starting to simmer down in SE7.

But that's no concern of yours. The point is, that regardless of what anybody says about the "size" of the trophy being competed for in March, you're there and have it to look forward to. Just enjoy the day and take the game (and the result) as it comes. Good luck.

Where in Blackheath are you fella ? I used to drink in The Crown and my Auntie got married at All Saints on the heath. My old dear is a Lewisham girl and my Dad is a Charlton boy. I have a lot of fond memories of Blackheath and Greenwich park.

I grew up living in Vanburgh Park, just near the Royal Standard. Home is now the Isle of Wight, but I come up to see the Addicks as often as finances will allow these days.

Love then photo on your post. That looks very much like the entrance to Floyd Road at the bottom of Charlton Church Lane. I don't remember it ever being that crowded though. <laughing>

I know the places you mentioned. Please give my regards to yer mum and your old fella. Good on 'em.
