His contract is up in the Summer (or whenever the Russian season ends) so he's pretty cheap anyway. I'm pretty sure it's a permanent deal, unless it's a George Boyd type thing where we have a deal in place to make it a permanent at the end of the loan.

Sometimes you have to take a risk, you can't base one player's success on another's failure, otherwise what'd be the point in signing any foreign player ever? Ideye had a decent record, but different players settle (or not) for different reasons, so you can't write him off before he comes in.

We have nothing to lose really, if we don't sign him we have very little striking options and will probably struggle. If we do sign him (and I don't think the fee is a lot), then we at least have an experienced, fit striker who can come straight in and play. Given his record, I don't know who else you'd want to bring in, especially given his playing style and the amount of headers he seems to score.

EDIT: Apparently it's £1.5m now and £1.5m in Summer, regardless of whether we stay up or not. Still seems like a fair deal, the only issue I have with it is that it's these structured deals that tend to collapse the most, we saw it with Rhodes last Summer.

Apparently we are also monitoring a youth player at Man City, Ashinme Kigbu (have a go at that one Swanny).

Leicester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Hull City are in for Manchester City youth prodigy Ashinme Kigbu.

The Nigerian born player is extremely versatile. Predominantly he plays across the back however can also be used in midfield or even in attacking roles. Manchester City’s 15-year-old is attracting a lot of attention from numerous Premier League clubs including Leicester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Hull City.

The soon to be 16-year-old is set to have talks with Manchester City, however he is certainly not short of admirers in the top flight of English football if a senior contract cannot be agreed at The Etihad.

How does that work? Either you get less dollars for your pounds or you get paid in dollars and it makes no difference (unless all your expenses are in pounds)?

Has Andre Ayew gone anywhere yet? We were linked earlier in the window, we could offer a pre contract now and have him in Summer for nothing.

Sorry, I should have been a little clearer. We get more dollars for the pound as it drops. I think it was about 60p to the dollar at the beginning of last year and finished at about 52p to the dollar. So lets say (for round figures) you are getting 50 quid per week (part) pension. At 60p to the dollar you would get between 83 and 84 dollars. When it drops to 52p you would get just over 96 dollars.

I might be wrong, but I think it was him who said we aren't good enough for him.

Ah, so by pound dropping in value you meant GBP strengthening against AUD.

Yes. I have great difficulty expressing myself especially at 18 minutes past the hour of midnight after I've been on the piss (and I don't mean '****ter-piss Harry).

Powell seems to be the English verson of ben Arfa, with his attitude etc
His loan with flat top was cut short early due to attitude and bad time
Keeping problems, he has undoubted talent but is he too full of himself.

Nope, it's far too volatile and easy to lose your shirt (and I don't have any capital). I do however try and keep tabs on various exchange rates for potential emigration / gauging the state of the UK against other nations, and pricing of electricals (eg. watching GBP:JPY post Fukushima drop from 230 to 120 - due to unwind of carry trade - and now back up to 180).

Anyway, think we're getting off topic. I see FourFourTwo reckon we should sign another player from Evian.
