Good point Hengy. I posted at the beginning of the season that we are running out of options for good coaches to come to WHL and that Poch would have to turn himself into a top name because that's what we need at Spurs. Well we've had a lot of luck this season and not gained the results we should have having lost too many home matches but to get us to Wembley in his first season is no mean feat. If we can win it and follow up with something next season then he's on the way. I'd be happy with just this cup this season as I don't think we are ready for the CL.
The mighty Thor I'm a massive supporter of poch for a variety of reasons. IMO he's still short on good players that we need to sustain a proper go at a top four finish. Positions I think we need are CB, CM, Pacey winger & ST Players that can go for me are Vlad, Paulinho, Capoue, Lennon and Adebayor. Poch is currently a 7.5/10
Like Hengy, I'm very much a Poch supporter too. Think his philosophy is great and is starting to really suit a lot of the players. Lloris, Rose, Davies, Vertonghen, Mason, Bentaleb, Stambouli, Chadli, Eriksen and Kane have all had a solid to good season under Poch and are what I believe are right for his tactics. Walker has been ok, with improvement needed but is the right type of full back that Poch likes, Fazio looks like he always has an error in him but tends to play well either side of the mistake, Dier when given the chances has looked a player beyond his age and I'm excited to see him develop, Lamela shows glimpses but needs to do more, likewise for Dembele and Townsend. Ade, Soldado, Vlad (unless RB), Kaboul, Paulinho, Capoue and unfortunately Lennon appear to have no long term future here unless a drastic change of luck occurs. I think two from this list will be gone by the 31st, with one, maybe two coming in.
Hengy, for me the jury is still out on Poch because of what i consider to be some strange team selections and positions for certain players. I agree with you about those who can leave though. I'm sad for Bobby Sol, very sad SoS but not for the others.
The players id like us to move on between now and the summer are- Friedel - Surely he will hang up his boots at the end of the season? Bae Chiriches Kaboul Paulinho Lennon Adebayor I hope we bring in - Winston Reid Milner Konoplyanaka Ings All on Free's we can then afford to pay high wages and signing on fee's Promote Mcghee to 3rd choice keeper, Veljkovic and Pritchard into the squad. Our squad would look like this - GK - Lloris, Vorm, Mcghee RB - Walker, Yedlin CB - Fazio, Vertonghen, Dier, Reid, Veljkovic LB - Rose, Davies CM - Milner, Bentaleb, Mason, Stambouli AM - Konoplyanka, Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela, Dembele, Townsend, Pritchard CF - Kane, Ings, Soldado
Wouldn't disagree much with Kinsmen's squad, providing we pulled off those signings. I'd probably have Archer over McGhee as 3rd choice, I think McGhee could do with a season's loan to a league 1 or 2 side. If it were down to me I think I'd try and flog Soldado, albeit likely at a massive loss but for his own and our benefit, I think a move is best for him. Bring in an experienced striker, someone happy enough with a squad role but who can pass on knowledge to the younger lads, we've got a young squad so the odd experienced head would be ideal.
Unless last minute Levy decides to try and pull of one of his last day "bargain buys", I can't see much happening before summer.
Not sure about Reid Allledleykingsmen, although I haven't seen much of him to be fair, but I pretty much agree with you otherwise. I'd also get Dembele out because I think/hope Tommy Carroll has a future with us, but I know not everyone agrees on that point. I was kind of hoping we'd see a lot of movement in this window but I can totally see why not now - we went on a decent run in terms of results if not always performances, and January isn't an easy time to get good players at good prices anyway.
Fair enough NSIS. As I said I know little about him so perhaps it was unfair of me to dismiss him like that. I also really like Redmond and think we should have a pop at getting him if its a position we end up needing.
I think we’ll do little or nothing this window, but I think that’s okay. The players we have who haven’t lived up to their price tags have mostly turned into good second options, like Paulinho and Soldado, perhaps Lamela as well. Why sell a useful player at a loss? Dembele is a good LM, even if he doesn’t really cut it as a deeper lying player. Even if we do sell a couple and pick up a couple, I doubt it will change the overall quality of the squad much. The one thing that would do that, namely someone markedly better than who we have, really doesn’t seem to be in the cards. The most useful thing might be that new striker, but, again, I just don’t see us picking up Ings, Berahino, or anyone else who might make a difference. However, with Ade and Soldado not scoring, we could really use a backup option in case Kane stops scoring as well or gets hurt.

This transfer window underlines where AVB ultimately went wrong last season: we've got too many players, which is especially problematic as we're at our limit of non-HG players so need to sell to buy, which restricts our January dealings to either HG or U21 players. The real issue is the players we should be trying to shift to sort this out are going to be hard due to either injuries catching up with them (Kaboul, Dembele), poor form making them an unattractive target (Soldado), high wages (Adebayor), or the entire football world forgetting they exist (Assou-Ekotto) At the very least, come the end of the season Friedel, Assou-Ekotto and (supposedly) Adebayor are out of contract so that frees things up, but we need them out now so we can bring in players we need before we do a proper overhaul in the summer.
