This happens to them all the time, they'll get over it just fine.

I'm having a hard time feeling the same pain for Feyenoord that I felt for Saints last summer despite the fact that we are rumored to be doing the same to them. This makes me a bad person. But you know, they might need all that money and they might bring in a raft of replacements that all gel instantly and next thing they will be competing for Champions league football. I know that no-one would ever imahine such a thing but..If they know what they're doing that might happen : )

We don't compete same country of league system, it makes a big difference in terms of frustration (though just imagine if our ex-players were playing for teams about us). Feyernoord's former stars won't be assisting competitors, the money will be assisting them though with their model, less of a trade off perhaps?

Reckon he'll be a good signing for them, there's a good player in there somewhere. I wouldn't be against us signing him. Wonder what Villa will pay him...

What you said is correct but there's no getting around the fact that we would be using our superior level of resources and (arguably) prestige to force a transfer.

The equivalent would have been Pochettino moving to the Bundesliga or La Liga and constantly poking his head in the door to see who he can bring with him. We would be spared having those players compete against us but the act of betrayal is still there.

That said i would've had a lot more sympathy before the start of this season. I don't like it but fact is the top 1% of clubs hold almost complete control and the closer you get to challenging their supremacy the more you're going to be challenged and exploited. We have to live with that and so does Feyenoord and so do whatever clubs they use to agglomerate talented players.

In the end, the top clubs can only have so many players. Plenty of others to go around...the best of the rest have to succeed by making players better and building a good team, then selling for good money. We are still in that position ourselves...just at a higher level.

I hope he proves me wrong. In his early days, I looked at him with all that pace and ability and just thought, "Brain Dead." He always seemed to be on the pitch just for himself and always made the wrong decisions. As you say, there could be a good player in there somewhere. Bags of ability. I don't know how old he is, but for his sake, I hope he has matured, or matures very quickly, as he could well be a great signing for them, if he sorts his head out.

    I think not though.

With you FLT on Sinclair, was a real prospect for Swansea but took the bait of going to a big club for bags of cash and saw his career disappear. Enjoyed the millionaire lifestyle with the high maintenance glamorous girlfriend, did Heat magazine type rubbish and slowly forgot football.
He is lucky that AV are desperate as he went to WBA last season and couldn't even get into their struggling first XI....JRod beware

Southampton are reportedly looking to sign Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder before the transfer window closes.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman had previously said that the club couldn’t afford the Netherlands international, but reports in Turkey suggest that the Dutchman has rekindled his interest in the playmaker.
The south coast currently lie in third in the Premier League table, and Koeman believes bringing in the 30-year-old would boost their chances of finishing in the top four.
Sneijder has scored five goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish giants this season, grabbing two assists
