Because the Rouble has collapsed? They presumably determine the currency so that the forex risk lies with the buyer.

I meant for Demba Ba, we'd offer Lira or pound notes wouldn't we?

The few times I've been to Turkey I've used Euros, I'd guess that's what the clubs operate in as its easier to negotiate with the rest of Europe

The way the euro's plummeting they'd be wise not to use that as a preferred currency, they should ask to be paid in USD if they want a strong currency

Turkey has for years been trying to accede to full EU membership. Whilst they accept Dollars, Sterling and Yeni Lira and Euros on the streets, in big cities like Ankara and Istanbul and in the business communities they deal in Euros so as to make a point as to their "Europisation". Turkey is a European nation in waiting. Hence they regard "Their" currency as the Euro.

If Turkey wants to be a European nation or even a mere member of the EU, perhaps they should refrain from occupying other European countries and forming states that no one else in the world recognises.

    For 40 ****ing years.

I won't get into a debate about this so as not to deflect the thread, but that ship sailed over the horizon a long time since. The Cypriots have moved on. The more important issues are internal human rights. The Turks have always been, and likely will always be, in a position of massive strategic strength, nowadays underpinned by the US.

Don't know where to start with this one.

So I'll stick to a single bit of advice.

Never tell a Greek Cypriot that he's moved on.

Or that the memory of 1500 people still missing have sailed over the horizon.

It won't go down very well.

    Ignorant twat.

Lammy, 'twat'. You never used 'twat'.
