We are in the final and that is all that matters. I just hope we can put a performance like we did against Chelsea last time. Although I would take any win I want us to make a real game of it and cut out the lapses of concentration that almost cost us tonight.
Flynn should've gone and the ref basically said it to him, rather annoyingly. Failing to close down the ball for their first goal was very poor, though. Panicked after that.
Oh come on, it's not negative it's stating the obvious. But we are through thank God so I'm going to enjoy it now!
There's nothing to be ashamed of because how often do minnows beat the big fish in cups? Didn't Sheff U beat PL teams on the way? They didn't beat us did they? Now the final is unpredictable. What's the better achievement, to beat another PL team who are improving or to beat a League 1 team in a cup which had beaten other PL teams? Too difficult to call.
Why do we keep throwing things away? No leadership. The manager can't speak the language. How is he going to get his team to respond to whatever it is he's thinking. Captains - Kaboul....but he doesn't play any more; Adebayor.....he just doesn't; Hugo.....keepers don't make great keepers. Potential leaders? Fazio was a captain in Spain but he seems to have trouble running and chewing gum; Vertonghen is gutless and loses his rag regularly. Maybe, Mason or Eriksen? We need some bl**dy leaders in the team. Oh for a McKay, Mullery, Roberts, Ledley or Perryman to rouse the troops
Well we're in the final and that's a good achievement for Poch's first season. Eriksen's freekick was just brilliant. Kane and Mason were really good all game. That's the positives out of the way. I just don't understand why we have utterly no clue how to play when we're in the lead. We just seem to do everything half-arsed and it leads to us getting into these messes. Either press high up the pitch, or don't. Either have the midfield drop or don't. This halfway between does no one any good. Like Saturday we did have the chances to put the game to bed and like Saturday they were a bit lucky to take the lead but we're leaving ourselves open to this every week when we switch off. It's all very good smartening up our act to play against the best teams in our country but if we don't start seeing off lesser sides more comfortably then we're not going to get anywhere. Hopefully this prompts some kind of movement in the transfer window. We have 3 competent centre backs, 2 of which aren't that great; we have only 1 striker who scores; we look totally lost in midfield without Bentaleb who's only 20. I get why Levy hasn't spent in the past but either the manager is backed to get a player or 2 in that's badly needed or we're going to end up writing this season off.
It's lucky I was washing up when they scored their second because it's very likely my phone would've met the wall at high speed. At least we're there I guess but talk about doing it the hard way
I'm in bed with flu all day and when their second went in I didn't have the strength to do anything. So Spurs are on their way to Wembley again and I hope everybody involved with the club especially Poch just keep their mouths shut. Poch said after Chelsea that we could beat any top team in the country then we lose to Palace. So Poch and players just shut it. It's Chelsea we face who will have a week's rest before the match.
Anyway as for Sheff U if they can beat Preston they'll have a bloody good chance against Man U. Just bring on Che.
Paul the Plug, Yes, that is 2, Name 10 more without looking them up. My cat could captain Real Madrid. Whilst Hugo captains France what have they won? If you have a captain in goal it is usually because the rest of the team are sociopaths or mutes.
We’re going to Wembley! Nice of Spurs to keep things interesting, I think. So many other clubs win comfortably every once in a while. That’s about how I see it. We start out pressing and attacking energetically enough that we have a decent defense via a good offence. Then we get a goal, lose the intensity because we’re feeling fat and sassy, and end up, as you say, playing a system that neither presses the other team back, nor protects the back four. So we give up the next goal. Tbf part of the blame for the last two games goes to Paulinho and Kane, who missed a few chances in each. Also, credit to Sheffield, who battled hard and showed why they’ve beaten so many PL teams. Well, it is a good achievement for Pochettino and the team. They are a much livelier, more exciting group than we saw in the first half of last year, to give them credit. Way too ****ing exciting. However that may be... We’re going to Wembley! COYS!
Excellent first half. Superb free kick by Eriksen. Apart from Vorm dropping the ball from a cross they didnt have a sniff. We looked lively and passed the ball round delightfully at times. Kane was excellent tonight but he should have scored at least one of those in the first half. Were developing a terrible habit of sitting on a one goal lead, thinking we can see games out when he cant. We must learn to kill teams off, we have the quality but we need to be ruthless and put teams to the sword. Perhaps we have too many nice guys in our team. Thank god Eriksen rescued us from a nail biting 30 mins of extra time. Thats 10 goals now and theres no reason he cant finish the season with 15+ which is superb for a number 10. Mason and Dembele were very good today, but special mention to Stambouli. He was excellent and is growing in stature in every game. I love his passion and tenacity. He reminds me of Steffen Freund but with a little more class and technique. Anyway, we've got to Wembley its always heart in the mouth watching Spurs but im delighted. We convincingly beat Chelsea at the Lane. Lets hope we can do it again. COYS
The main thing we need for the final is Bentaleb because, when he's been out of the side due to injury or getting ACoNned, we miss his ability to keep things tidy in central midfield.
