For me this next couple of weeks define our season, if we beat both Bournemouth and Brentford I strongly believe we'll kick on and take the Championship title, fail in one and win the other I think it's playoffs for us and lose both I think we'd end up missing out. Time for the men to stand up and be counted... COYH
Yes this is a very important game.... and we have to start winning against top 10 8 sides to take the points advantage.....
I'd take a draw anytime - we cannot afford to lose ground on the leaders. A win would be a bonus but one I'm not expecting.
It's a bloody funny league and it isn't necessarily make or break because Bournemouth could lose at home to Blackpool or Wigan, say and we might get a different unlikely win. It is so mixed up. No team is on 2pts a game, which is not typical. That said, I agree that it is very important and ignoring everything I've just written, I think it is critical to the direction of our season. A point would be good enough for me as long as we pick up plenty more 3s after that because the others haven't been hanging around recently.
The problem for us is which team will turn up on the day. Will it be the team against Huddersfield or the first half against Blackpool or will it be the team against Charlton or the second half against Blackpool? It makes predicting our results a nightmare. Bournemouth and Brentford have done very well. Do they have the strength of squad to carry on for the latter part of the season? The top eight appear to be breaking away from the rest. Will the battle be between those eight? I think Bournemouth have been at the top longest and they haven't been there that long. An interesting season.
Be good to win against the B and B sides above us, however, I don“t think it will define our season. We could win the rest and still be in with a shot!
I think we need to win one of them because of the self belief it would give and the team spirit it should engender. Then again 2 draws may achieve the same so long as we cut out some of the " silly " losses
I put this link up on another thread - really helpful and very interesting where everyone is gaining their points from. Just click on each team and then view their performances against top 6, next 6 etc. http://www.kickoff.co.uk/teams/watford/2014/results/
I'm not seeing it as critical for the points themselves, more in my mind it points to how I feel the team is in terms of wanting it.... We should on paper have the talent to put these teams away but nothing is a given and we are our own worst enemy at times. If we beat both of these it indicates to me a strength of mind and a desire to get that auto spot rather than turn up and hope... I don't think either Bournemouth or Brentford will be in the top 2 come end of season, my worries are more Derby, Boro, Norwich and even Forrest
I think I'd quite like the team that turned up the last time we played away on a Friday night and it was televised, didn't we score 5 that night against Fulham?
im 100% with andy and vic evryone in the league know what we can do over the last few weeks and the fulham game . and we know at times we just cant get things going if teams close us down not losing to the b and b over the next few weeks will keep us in the pack if we win both then a can see derby midb and us fighting for the top 2 spots
