Or create an actual thread where you can discuss Wilshere instead of going off topic on a match thread about ****ing Brighton and the cup, maybe then you won't be called a ****. Simple.
My point is related to the game, I am commending Rosicky who was amazing, and so related to that point, I mentioned the fact that Rosicky was barely getting a sniff early in the season because he was behind Wilshere, and earlier in the season I was saying Wilshere should not be ahead of Rosicky....So all I'm saying is that Rosicky is proving my point! So it's all related. Why was a top quality player like Rosicky behind Wilshere before? Just look at what Rosicky has brought and produced in the 4 games he has recently started for us. It's like if you had Matic and you were starting Flamini ahead of him for most of the season until Flamini got injured.
I'm really pleased to see Rosicky playing so well and I think he'll be a big asset to the team in the second half of the season. I don't however see that as a reason to slag off Wilshere who has been injured for the majority of the season. Why do some fans have to find the negative in everything ?
No need to, because I don't want to have an easy argument with you having no chance to defend average Wilshere.
No, I would have no interest at all in defending Wilshere. His development has stalled big time, and his attutide on and off the pitch pisses me off. So you are wrong again. Back to the actual game, it was a decent enough performance, but once again we looked dodgy at the back when Per and Kos don't play together which is worrying.
Anyway, getting back to the FA cup. Good tie at home to Middlesbrough but we need to be alert as we know that they can take down the top teams. I would hope though that the result at City will ensure that we don't take anything for granted in this game.
He hasn't been injured for most of the season, he was playing regularly until around middle of November before he got the long term injury. And until he got injured, he was ahead of Rosicky. If Wilshere was fit now, odds are Rosicky wouldn't be starting. Wenger would have continued with the failed policy of playing Wilshere as the CAM, heck Cazorla probably wouldnt have been able to shine as Wenger would have been shifting him out left to make way for Wilshere in the middle as he did with Ozil.
Piskie, Bear & Smirnoff - you all know what my views are and I disagree with you guys as much as it's possible to disagree with someone but there we go. Moving swiftly on... Middlesbrough at home. We shouldn't underestimate them after they put City away comfortably in the second half, but judging by the highlights, City should have been home & dry in that first half. They were very very wasteful in front of goal. Let's do what those over pampered, self-interested, soft touch ****s couldn't do & progress in the cup!
City clearly took that tie for granted, they flew to Abu Dhabi in mid-week and came back on Friday or something. If we take it seriously, then we should progress to the last eight. Loving our cup runs.
i think it serves City right that they got knocked out for being arrogant ****ers and going away for a friendly
If we get past Middlesbrough (which isn't a given but I expect us to do so), the only sides I wouldn't be comfortable facing are Stoke away from home and United home/away, who always seem to have a psychological advantage over us before the game has even started. If we can avoid United at any stage of this competition and avoid Stoke (away), I would say we would have an excellent opportunity to retain this cup.
Fair enough that's your prerogative, just good to know we can debate each others point of view. TBH I didn't realise people were still discussing Wilshere on a FA Cup match thread! It should be a good game against Boro, and without underestimating them we should allow some of our 1st teamers to get much needed game time to get back up to full fitness (eg Ozil, Ramsey, Welbeck)
Point of order Mr Chairman, I believe this is the brighton-hove-albion-vs-arsenal-fa-cup-official-match-thread. I think the Boro tie should be discussed in an Arsenal-vs-Middlesbroughl-fa-cup-official-match-thread.
Yeah absolutely agree. Wilshere's biggest problem is injuries that's it. I'm a big fan of Wilshere the guy has soo much ability. As with Ramsey and Walcott before him the critiscm is completely unfounded and unnecessary.
Disagree, Completely. Wilshere does 'World Class' things everytime he plays. His touch, close control and the way he moves with the ball .. he just has that little something special IMO. Consistency is key. Just look at RVP (very different type of player but the comparison is still relevant) Consistently injured. (Debates about his actual ability were common. Many Arsenal fans called him overrated for years.) When he came back from injury it would take him time to build any kind of momentum. It's the same with Jack. He gets judged on his output but when I watch him carefully its clear he just has something extra special about him. I absolutely think with a good run of fitness he can become a World Class midfielder. Wenger seems to think the same way too.
Dwell on the ball too long, get mugged, fall over. Repeat until injured. There's no denying that he has a lot of skill but I just don't think he has the brains to go with it.
But this is all speculation. He's never performed to a world class level... ever. What world class things does he do everytime he plays? The odd thing here or there maybe, but every time he plays?! Come on. Consistency is irrelevant. You could quite easily say any player could reach world class levels if they play consistently, but it wouldn't be based on anything other than hope. I'm not entirely sure what you're watching when you see him. He's an offensive central midfielder who doesn't really assist or score. He rarely dribbles past people. He is quite good and clearly premiership standard but what is it exactly you're seeing that you think suggests he could be world class? Does he do anything that Henderson, Delph and Fer don't do (all who are good but nothing more)?
