Last night for example he would just say he didn't see the stamps and he couldn't be certain of contact for Costa's penalty appeal. I don't think any Liverpool or Chelsea fans would feel better about the decisions after that.
No, but it would be self policing in effect. It may make referees make less rash and basic errors. Some of the decisions are frankly baffling. Being held accountable post match will help them in evaluating the mistakes they have made.
No, it'd just turn into a public flogging as the Sky reporters made them watch a decision that they'd have proven to be wrong with the aid of 16 camers and super slo mo. Referees need to made accountable for their mistakes but by forcing them off the PL register if they consistently **** up, not by publicly humiliating them on live TV for kicks.
Liverpool are certainly looking better these days, if they get Sturridge back then could give them a good second half to the season.
Aye, with Sturridge coming back it's difficult to rule them out of the top 4. With Spurs, Southampton, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United all chasing for 3rd and 4th it should be very interesting!
Another article from junior... The Costa Debate: Does Diego Go Too Far? http://soccerlens.com/costa-debate-diego-go-far/161780/
If they punish Costa after the game they should punish Gerrard and Skyrtl too. Then do it after every single other game where a ref is ****. Otherwise Jose is right Chelsea are being singled out. Annoying thing is all this bollocks is deflecting away from the real problem. People paid a lot of money to be an incompetent ref.
Forcing them off the PL register, we'll be left with no referees! No, I'm all for live TV interviews afterwards. They get humiliated on live TV by mistakes highlighted anyway. I don't see why a discussion about how they arrived at certain decisions etc would cause an issue.
Oh. The other thing that makes me laugh is, if he played for us (same goes for fans of other teams) Costa would be revered as a legend. Remember how Ash played? Plenty of other examples too.
No, we'll just end up with the best ones at the top of the game, instead of the gentlemens club that it's turned into under Riley I mean how the **** is that melt Mason still getting a gig in the PL ffs? He's absolutely ****ing chronic and yet he's still getting £100k a year for ruining peoples weekends. He should be sacked off and the next on the list promoted. As for the post match interviews, it'd only ever be one way ffs. It wouldn't make for great TV if they wheeled out a ref and said "perfect game there fella, well done" would it? No, he'd have a good game, but make one mistake and they'd seek to crucify him for it. Can't have it.
Dont know how many Liverpool fans are true 'scousers' these day.....but anyone whos had the misfortune to travel up to London with them knows that most Chelsea supporters are not ' cockneys' but City types who live in Surrey and Sussex commuter land. They are a truly nauseating bunch.
You obviously don't, cos he was **** all like Costa. He was a hard tackler, and occasionally too hard, but not on the same level as someone like Cattermole or Nolan for example, and he certainly wasn't one for cowardly stamps or anything like that.
^^This is spot on, we didn't have this level of ref bashing before we had umpteen cameras and super slow-mo at matches - a team loses it's the easy, and favoured option, to blame the ref, teams losing couldn't possibly be due to some overpaid, underachieving, fiddling, diving cheating ****ish players not doing their job ...... nope, it's the ref's fault .......... modern football and the bollocks that surrounds it, I ****ing hate it.
I agree that some are absolutely chronic, but I don't agree with your view that they shouldn't be held accountable for their decisions after the game. Most other walks of life this would be the norm. They shouldn't be vilified, but an explanation as to why they did or didn't give certain decisions would certainly help their cause. At the moment it's just a wall of silence, the penalties for poor performance are no games for a week or so, or down a division. It's pretty poor. Players and managers have to be interviewed, why should referees escape when they have as much influence over the game?
Bullshit, if a referee wrongly sends someone off that has a huge effect on the game, you have to be an idiot to believe a team or manager can't feel hard done by if they've had a severe disadvantage because of a referee making a **** decision.
True, but when players are deliberately trying to deceive the referee by diving, feigning injury, claiming free kicks/throw ins, trying to get other players booked...etc then can you then blame them if they make a genuine mistake? Players spend the game deliberately trying to get the referee to make wrong calls in their favour, it then becomes hugely hypocritical to blame the defeat on a wrong decision.
I think that referee's don't help themselves, how many times have we seen a player dive and then the ref not give a foul or book the player for diving? It makes no sense, or alternatively there needs to be retrospective three match bans for players who have dived introduced. That's the only way it will be stamped out the game.
Referees are seeing everything in real time, no super slo-mo or umpteen angles for them - every team in the PL has its divers and cheats, they're all looking for an angle, for an advantage - you've seen the ****s, high fives and sly winks after ''winning'' penalties or getting an opposition player sent off. It's ****ing cheating and blaming the ref for it is the easy option. Refs do make mistakes, they're human, it's what we do - I'll never be convinced they do it on purpose though.
