It would be Karmic Justice for Liverpool to win this via a penalty being given in the last minute from a Balo dive.
Sums Maureen up. His team score and he's more concerned with having a go at the 4th official because Lucas didn't get a second yellow. Whining ****
I don't like to see players get hurt, but I ****ing wish somebody would leave their boot in on that **** Costa. He has been stamping, pushing, shirt pulling and niggling all night long.
Well Chelsea are through. Unsurprisingly. Liverpool would have won if they started with a striker; I don't know why Rodgers persists with Sterling as a lone centre forward, he has pace and speed but he isn't strong enough to hold the ball up and link other players into the game. Had they started with Sterling on the right, Balotelli/Lambert as a centre forward and Markovic on the left, they'd have had more luck in front of goal, in my opinion. With that being said, had Costa been sent off for that disgraceful stamp on Emre Can, it would have been an entirely different game. I hope retrospective action will be taken, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Wouldn`t have made a scrap of difference, Costa offers Chelsea nothing in defence and they already had the away goal advantage. Park the bus, win the tie
Don't be ridiculous, of course Chelsea going down to 10 would have made a difference. Away goals only counted in extra time. I would have fancied Liverpool's chances with 80 minutes of normal time to play against 10 men when they were the quicker and more energetic side for most of the game anyway.
Thanks for the correction. And it wouldn't but what I'm getting at is the game would have opened up a lot more and Liverpool would most likely have been in the ascendancy with an extra man on the field & 80 minutes to play. I'm not saying they would have definitely gone through but it would have made their chances of progressing much easier with a man advantage. It would be naive to suggest otherwise.
To be honest, i think Liverpool would have had all of the ball for three quarters of the pitch, after that nothing. We have all seen how good Chelsea are at killing a game when they need to.
You could be right. But with Chelsea reduced to 10 men and playing deeper in their own half, gaps would open up and they (Chelsea) would be inviting more pressure on themselves. With a few more chances, who knows? Chelsea are generally pretty strong defensively, but as the Bradford, Newcastle and Spurs games showed, they still have vulnerabilities and if you really get at them, their resistance can be broken. Personally I think Chelsea down to 10 with 80 minutes of a match to go would have been too much for them to handle to match Liverpool's tenacity and energy without an extra player.
I'm not liking Costa's dirtiness at all. Hopefully justice will be served and he get whacked with a healthy ban,
Jose Mourinho fined £25,000 for referee 'campaign' comments Jose Mourinho has been fined £25,000 for comments claiming there is a "campaign" to influence referees' decisions against his Chelsea side. But the Chelsea boss, who was warned about his future conduct, was cleared of implying bias by referees. During the game at St Mary's, referee Anthony Taylor booked Cesc Fabregas for diving after going down in the box under Matt Targett's challenge. After the draw, the Stamford Bridge manager told BBC Sport: "The media, commentators, other managers are all doing it [putting pressure on referees]." In his news conference later, he added: "There is a campaign against Chelsea. I don't know why there is this campaign and I do not care. "Everybody knows it was a penalty." Mourinho was also issued with a formal warning for comments ahead of Chelsea's 2-0 win at Stoke on 22 December. The Portuguese called on referee Neil Swarbrick to produce a strong performance at the Britannia Stadium. Seriously, this guy needs to be properly punished. He maybe a great coach but man is he a pi$$ poor role model. His blatant lying of saying Costa didn't stamp was disgraceful. He is better off staying silent but unfortunately it's part of his gameplan to speak out and try and influence with lies and deceit.
I don't understand what the FA think a measly fine is going to do. Either punish him properly by giving him a touchline ban & a sterner warning about his future misconduct, or don't ban him at all. A fine of £25,000, which is nothing for a millionaire, will not do anything.
Neymar banging them in this season, 21 goals already for Barca, and he does not take the pens for them. And some on here were calling him overrated and average.
Spurs on their way to Wembley to face Chelski. Horrible game for us, one of those ****s are going to win something.
As much as I despise Chelsea and that **** Mourinho, there's no way I'd want to see the Spuds win it. The only consolation is that it's the tin pot league cup. Chelsea will probably win the league, so I hope they win it to deny the Spuds.
