Ashbee 100%. He's the only player in the history of English football to captain a team on the field to promotion through every division. Wny isnt he more revered and renowned not only by our fans but by fans across the country? He should have a ****ing statue not only at our stadium but in the ****ing football museum.

How exactly? Stuart was brilliant in the bottom 2 divisions but equally out of his depth in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.

Because Ashbee's legacy was tarnished, screwed up and **** all over by that utter scumbag **** Nigel fecking Pearson. That repulsive turd ruined everything.

That and Ash handing in a transfer request to get a massive signing-on fee at PNE.

And let's not forget his ill advised friendship with Bullard

The only reason it was ill advised is due to Pearsons moronic hatred of Bullard or anyone with a bit of character.

    It was all Pearsons fault.

Chill, it was tongue-in-cheek and referring more to his attitude than ability; but right now I'd take Jake-the bloody-Pake if he could actually hit the net. <laugh>

Ashbee will have lost a huge loyalty bonus on his Premier League contract by handing a transfer requested.

I would say my top 5 would be:

    1. Windass - Not just for the goal, but for him single handedly keeping us previously
    2. Dawson - Mr Consistent, never let you down, not in Division 3, and not even in the Premier League
    3. Ashbee - Captain fantastic, always getting stuck in, the type of player that has gone missing over the last 5/6 years, only player left similar to him is Cattermole and he is a c**t!!!
    4. Elliott - For his goals that fired us up to the Championship, he was amazing.
    5. Geovanni - The little magician's goals were amazing, and provided us with glorious wins over Spurs, Arsenal, Fulham, etc.

If a player is sold, without asking to be sold, he gets a percentage of the fee.

For me I think the best player we ever had - in relation to the league we were in, was Elliott in L1, and whilst in years to come i think younger lads will look at some of our PL players as those they wish they'd seen, i'd like to think that that i'll sit my kids and grand kids down and tell them about this brilliant left winger who scored 27 goals in one season to get us promoted to the championship

For me, i kind of wish i'd seen Bamber play, just so I could understand how unbelievably terribly **** he really was

He was a lot better than John Moore and David Jones. Who was that useless beanpole we had on loan from someone like Cambridge - Robbie Turner was it? All of these make Bamber look like Rowan Vine.

Bamber was finished when we got him, but I think he used to be decent, I'm sure he's nowhere near the worst of the players that have turned out for us. I think he was one of Stan Ternents 'special' signings like Gwyn Thomas and Finnegan- now he was bad

As for a player I'd like to have seen in his pomp, that would be 'Rambo' Billy Whitehurst and to a lesser extent Keith Edwards, I only started to get to games about the time they were finished and only ever saw Whitehurst score one, in a 4-1 defeat to Stoke unfortunately

Keith Edwards was my hero, even though he defect back to the Blunts, however whilst he was still playing for us I remember him scoring a superb goal at Bramble Lane, I also remember jumping up and celebrating and my older brother pulling at my coat telling me to sit the **** down, we were, for reasons that I can't recall, sat in one of the home supporters stands.

Does anyone know what date that game took place? I'm rubbish with dates.

I wish I'd seen whitehurst, waggy and chillo.

I think the ones from my time would be Deano, Elliot, Fettis up front and Geo.

I think/hope Chester will add his name to that list. His perfectly timed tackles are a joy to behold, never seen such a technically brilliant defender at city.

Richard Jobson is better in my memory but of course he played at a lower level for us. However he did reach the same level for Oldham and did he sign for TWS? It rings a bell that I may have tried to deliberately erase from memory.
