No not the porn! Apparently we are trying to sign Eboue who has been released from Galatasaray!

One of the worst divers I've ever seen against us - quick as a flash but not sure what he'd offer.

Can;t post a link as it's on Ladbrokes News and it's banned at work

    Eboue, wes, oshea, rev

Nearly 150 years of experience at the back

Why do we need another RB?

Yes, but in the summer when we should let Rev go and have Billy Jones drop down to second choice. But I've no interest in Eboue. We should be looking for a young long term rb.

Disagree fella, wages are obviously tight, it's likely we need to ship people out on loan to free the wages, tying up more wages on a 3rd rb makes no sense when we have other areas in need of strengthening.

I agree but we have no idea whether wages are tight or we have any available. Seen loads of speculation about this but we gave just paid Defoe a good amount so that should show we mean business. January, however, is not the time to strengthen massively. Minimal improvement is what is needed midway through a season and Defoe is that. Not sure about any more

He'd improve the team. If we can afford it it's a yes from me. Puzzling that he's been released like but if he's the player he was at arsenal he's good enough.

Congerton already said at the start of the season that we're close to hitting our wage threshold. Given our last financial report which had us exceeding the wage threshold, and looking at who's come in and out, we can't be 100% sure but you get an idea we're close. It's not just blind guessing like that daft mag telling us we're still in debt, it's taking the information available to form an opinion. I'll stick with it too. What happens with the rest of the window will also give an indication.

I think we'll only bring in some loans if we can ship out surplus on loan. We don't need 3 rb's either.

Sunderland are rumoured to be one of a host of Premier League clubs tracking former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue after the full-back was released from his contract by Galatasaray.

The former Ivory Coast international had, prior to this season, been a mainstay in the side, appearing 102 times for the club in his first three seasons in Istanbul.

For this campaign though, Eboue has not featured at all.

With Cesare Prandelli’s squad featuring more foreign players than are permitted to be registered in the Turkish top division, the 31-year-old was not included in their final squad list.

Following nine months without featuring in competitive action, Eboue has now been released from the 19-time Super Lig winners.

This has alerted a number of clubs from over Europe, with a pair of north east rivals rumoured to be leading the race.

Gustavo Poyet will be keen to bolster his squad to get the Sunderland fans off his back, with his team being booed off during their goalless draw with Fulham at the weekend.

The Uruguayan described how his fans are “living in the past”, as he persists with a 3-5-2 formation, that doesn’t seem to work.

However, bringing in Eboue could be a good move to tailor that strategy, with the former Gunner a dab hand at getting forward from the wing-back positions.

The ability to bolster both the Black Cats’ defensive resolve and attacking threat, with no need to pay a transfer fee could tempt Poyet to move for the player.

Sunderland have scored fewer goals than all teams bar Aston Villa this season, and although the addition of Jermain Defoe is a start, the former England man still needs plenty of support going forward.

But the Mackems could have competition from just down the road.

Newcastle are another team reported in bagging the recent free agent, and would offer a more stable foundation for Eboue to ply his trade.

Nevertheless, convince him that Wearside is a better bet than Tyneside, and Poyet’s men would only strengthen their position in the current relegation dogfight.

Good player, would fit well in our side. I could see this one happening. It would not be too expensive either.
