That will be a bit too difficult for Bob to comprehend, as it does not fit his Monk out agenda!!............
Players contracts ended / sold Foreign 73% (40% Spanish) In Foreign 60% (0% Spanish) - Gomis not really getting online a house on fire, Siggy old mate. I don't need to have agenda - Monk presents it.
BK. I'm sure you are telling the truth about what you heard and yes it does sound like Chico has behaved in a manner which would get him sacked in almost any other job....but, I have some questions regarding this version of events; 1) How many people witnessed this? 2) Is it true that the germ of the argument concerned Chico (the fittest player at the club)'s diet, specifically what he liked to eat for breakfast? 3) Is it possible that he believed himself to be engaging in banter with the physio? 4) How, specifically, did Monk "defend" her? Did he calmly tell Chico that he was out of order? Did he pull him aside and have a quiet word? (Club captain stuff) Or did he get "loud and proud", aggressive, in his face, pushing and shoving even? 5) Who asked him to go home? How was this dealt with? Is it possible that Chico felt tucked up and painted into a corner in the role of club problem? Is it possible that Chico might have believed that Monk had just provoked an incident which would damage his career? There's always 2 sides to every story. In my experience it takes provocation, rather than a few cross words, to provoke such a reaction.....unless, of course, this version of events is entirely accurate and Chico is a psycho (possible).
“My relationship with Garry Monk has always been fantastic and still is – to a point that we spent the afternoon together yesterday. “Any person involved in football knows these small arguments regularly happen in training sessions and even more when things are a bit more tense than normal after not getting good results.” Chico Swansea club captain Monk said: "I have been playing in the professional game for 20 years and training rows are nothing new in a competitive and pressurised environment. Recent media reports have blown everything out of proportion." Monk
A well constructed post that I have some answers to but not all unfortunately! 1) The bust-up between Monk and Chico would have been witnessed by other members of the squad and staff. From what I know, the insult to Kate Rhys was in private, and it's Kate's words against Chico's really. 2) The argument was that Chico, after training, bought some tasty snacks (something like crisps or a chocolate bar) which obviously weren't on the nutritional quota for the day. Kate Rhys noticed this and notified Chico that he shouldn't be eating it at that time, Chico responded by telling Kate Rhys that she didn't really have a right to tell him that considering her size/weight. 3) I can accept that maybe, given Chico's poor English, that he could have been more blunt than he'd intended and Kate may have not taken this into consideration when she took offense. Maybe if Chico had spoken what he'd meant in Spanish to a Spanish-speaking physio, it may have had a more comedic effect. The probable outcome was that Chico probably used words like "fat" and "big" and may have even had to hold his arms out/blow out his cheeks to help him get his point across that he felt she was not in shape - maybe funny in his mind, but obviously not for Kate. 4) From the full story that I heard, Monk did just have a quiet word with him but Chico took a lot of offense to it, perhaps feeling quite innocent and unaware that his poor translation of his 'banter' had done some damage. There must've been some previous between Chico and Monk though because Chico flipped and ended up throwing a chair at Monk (again, whether it was an overhead throw, a WWE style chair to the head, or just a violent shove of a chair in Monk's direction as he stood up to confront Monk, I don't know). 5) I don't know who asked Chico to go home. Probably not Monk though, I wouldn't thought, they'd probably been separated after the chair episode. Maybe one of the senior coaches? But I don't know, it wasn't part of what was described to me. Chico was clearly still angry at Monk (quite possibly for the reasons you stated) and was later seen behind the training ground with a brick. To be fair, what he intended to do with the brick, only Chico knows, because he never got the chance to use it however he intended before he was found and the brick was taken out of action. Maybe Chico likes to do a bit of bricklaying to let off steam? Always happy to accept that there are two sides to every story! And there are certainly gaps in what I've been told. Remember, this story is coming from the perspective of the British players. It would have been interesting to hear it from the perspective of one of the Spanish lads there at the time, and with decent translation please! But sadly, we don't have that. And the club obviously kept the whole story away from the press, only confessing that the police was called regarding Chico and the brick. It was reported as a small 'exchange of words' that has now been cleared up. Unfortunately there was a lot more than that, and what we saw happen with Cañas and Pozuelo on the training ground later in the season (them both being told by Monk they'd never put the shirt on again) may have come from them taking Chico's side in the above saga. There was obviously a bit of tension between the Spanish/Other players anyway, but it seems that Chico's, most likely, misinterpreted insult was the straw that broke the camel's back.
She is a bit of a bifta though isn't she? Yes. Yes, I did go there. Would have thought a health professional knows all about healthy diets, exercise, etc. But then maybe she's just big boned.
There was no brick. But he does like his treats please log in to view this image Not sure how sharia this is but..... Bob are they all chico look a likes apart from the guys with the bald head of course. So would I, We have missed his defending more than some would like to admit.
Just finished watching a rerun of all the matches we played leading up to and including the League cup final win. Being honest Laudrup's squad was for me a lot better than our current squad. It was a pleasure to watch these matches, quick one touch football, style, goals, commitment and quality football. I'd forgotten what we were capable of.
