...got around to watching "Dredd" (2012) at the weekend. Wisny too bad. Karl Urban was a pretty good Joe Dredd and the story was lifted from 2000AD's block wars serial. It was a good start to eradicating the dreadful (<--punny) Stallone shambles of the 90's. If the proper people get involved it's a franchise that could run. There's a huge 2000AD fan base out there wishing for it.
Correct, Gumbo, lots of our generation grew up on 2000AD comics and would love to see a decent Judge Dredd franchise. It would wipe the floor with all that abysmal DC and Marvel comics ****e.
That is a good Movie, made on a budget too, I watched it on Blu Ray a while back. Exactly the same plot as The Raid, but that was just coincidental, it's far more violent than the raid.
It was made on a budget and you're right they did pretty well with the budget they had while trying to get the theme of the Judge Dredd serial. Don't think I know "The Raid". It seemed to me the story was lifted from 2000AD's "Block Wars" story line. Anyhoo, it's a good starting place to reboot the franchise and forget forever the mess they made of the Stallone version. I would be happy to see Karl Urban continue in the role of Dredd, but oddly the guy who played Judge Lex in the movie seemed more 'Dreddy' than Urban did.
Urban's a comic fan, he did it as a labour of love, even down to keeping the Helmet on. I'm waiting for a DR and Quinch Movie. please log in to view this image
Canny remember much of Quinch. I would look forward to "The Ballad of Halo Jones" but seeing as Hollywood keep making a complete **** of Alan Moore's work am no holding ma breath.
I didnt watch it nor did I read any of them comics. In interesting news I did watch American Sniper ... a load of ****e He wasnt a patch on the XMG sniper either
did you like my oscar bravo whisky talk for crossmaglen ? I did it for you xox seen some thing on the facebook about the American Sniper and why hes no hero etc. but I never clicked it to read it .
Aye I got the XMG one Hero is a vastly overrused term too, I wear a help for heroes wristband, have done for years but the name gets on my goat, it's an insult to the memory of Real heroes, people who happen to have done something Heroic get less recognition than some guy who lost an arm. Getting wounded is seldom brave, it's certainly not a Heroic act. I got set on fire once, did I get a medal? Did I ****.
they dont give medals for catching fire ... they give badges for not catching fire please log in to view this image
I was injured while in uniform, it's just the same, I'll admit I was not in a Combat Zone, just Aldershot, but it was an accident, and unless all those Troops got shot on purpose I think I might be due some cash from this so called Help For Heroes, Help for Dev more like.
Falling asleep on yer bunk with a lit ciggie leaves you little chance of claiming compen. It's fecking court martialed you should have got Yacontcha.
