Off Topic New Top Gear

The show is one (if not the) biggest earners for the BBC. It's sold all over the world.

It seems the liberals at the BBC are happy to forgive it's lack of political correctness and laddish behaviour if it brings in much needed coffers for
the organisation, especially if it means their huge BBC pension rights are protected.

 

It's a reasonable point. I dont think the BBC is politicised at all, maybe in the 80s it was, and this a good example to throw back at people who accuse it of being "lefty *liberal". There cant be many more presenters on tv with clearer right-wing views than Clarkson.

*When did being liberal become an insult by the way? Everybody over here seems to love Obama and there can't be many more liberal presidents than him.

Anti environmentalist.
Heavily publicly critical of Blair and Brown.
Racist.
That kind of thing.

 

Oh I know how succesful top gear is and how much it makes for the BBC, maybe I worded the question a bit wrong. I was meaning why was he even employed in the first place? And why did the BBC give him the thumbs up to express himself the way he does? The show would easily be just as succesful without his political opinions included in it.

Bum chins possibly has it right, I genuinely don't know I just read it on here that the BBC is a left wing organisation. I don't even have a clue which newspapers support which parties

 

Well The Sun supports whichever party is ahead in the opinion polls at the time and then come election time claims "it's them wot won it".

Calling Blair and Brown left wing is a bit of stretch as well. Anyway, back on topic. The format has become very stale and last night's show did nothing to change that.

 

Anyone in their right mind would be critical of Blair and Brown.

Funny how this person so many lefties sneer at has a programme sold all around the world bringing in millions whilst programmes involving people they think we should all be watching can't be given away.
