Would also seem to be a appear that any poster on here who calls one of our players anything other than top quality (even if they call him 'good') is castigated for saying that player is s**t.

All the negativity is coming from the usual suspects

But is the strength in depth amazing? Has it allowed us to go top of the league? Nope... it hasn't won us anything yet. If it wins up a trophy or two at the end of the season then great, congratulate our squad depth. Congratulating the team with a pat on the back right now after a couple of wins is pointless.

Agreed that there's no need to bash Wilshere... but no-ones actually bashing Wilshere and calling him s**t (apart form maybe one)... just debating his quality to start in the first XI.

One poster has made a negative comment and called him s**t. Who are the others then given you've used the pleural of 'suspect'?

If your version of negativity is disputing a player's quality and inclusion in our starting 11, I really do worry.

It was a good win. I am delighted we're through and there have been plenty of comments praising the side for getting through yesterday. We move on.

How have you come to the conclusion that the 'usual suspects' (I assume you mean me) are being negative, then? Explain.

How could we win the league, the season hasn't finished yet?

So by your argument we should slag off the team and be as negative as possible to them because they haven't won anything, and keep doing this right up until the end of the season when they do/don't win something?!?! And you think this will help the team.

And yes I do think our strength in depth is pretty good in midfield - having a choice between Ozil, Cazorla, Sanchez, Rosicky, Wilshere or Ramsey as AM, or Ramsey, Rosicky, Wilshere ect in CM is pretty good - it's hardly the squads fault that half of our best players have been injured most of the season, or the midfields fault that the defence wasn't paper thin going into the season and has experienced consistent injury problems all season.

Sorry to disagree with you Cini.

The negativity (as opposed to praising our team, squad, strength in depth, performance, position, recent results ect) I've seen on this thread is things like '1 poster calling Wilshire **** of which 2 posters agreed with, statements saying he's the worst of our midfielders, that he has no influence on games - before people go to great length and effort to try and prove he's poor and we're a better team without him -

Brunel then lists how he thinks Wilshire is terrible - "I am unfamiliar as to what Wilshere has achieved in the side. He isn't good defensively because his tackling + ball retention is below par. He doesn't contribute enough going forward either. He's a decent distributor of the ball and occasional makes a threatening foray forward, but his decision making in the final third leaves a lot to be desired. So I'm lost at what he does for the side."

I'd say that all this is pretty negative (nothing wrong with that) but it's all off the back of us playing fairly well in a cup game and progressing to the next round when a lot of our rivals either crashed out or struggled to a draw. Roscky played excellent, Cazorla is on an amazing run of form, Ramsey, Ozil and Walcott are getting back to full fitness and looking dangerous in spells during games - so of course we start attacking a player whose been injured for months!

When have I said or even implied Wilshere is terrible when in the post you have quoted, I have outlined some of the positive things he can bring to the side? I was illustrating why Wilshere should stay out the side and the statistics prove my point. That doesn't mean I think he's terrible or he's **** and I clarified on that point afterwards in separate posts. Such a straw man argument.

Problem with some posters here is even one person makes an irrational comment like he's sh1t, it suddenly becomes "Let's defend the said player to the max". Can't we just discuss things without people getting their knickers in a twist?

It seems there is always somebody to slag off in the squad, it used to be Walcott, then Giroud, now Wilshere.

I'm all sure like those other players, Wilshere will come back to form and prove the doubters wrong.

What does seem a little under hand though, is to slag off players when they are injured.

Erm I've been saying Wilshere is overrated and shouldn't be starting for a long long time, even BEFORE he got injured. And it's not being 'negative', **** me fans can't have opinions now without having to be called 'negative'. Fact is Wilshere IS overrated, he is the weakest out of all our midfielders, and the only reason he gets a chance and is mentioned a lot is because he's English.

And also the reason I bring Wilshere up is because EARLIER IN THE SEASON I kept saying he didn't deserve to be ahead of ROSICKY, you know that mozart man? One of our best on form players currently? So my point is being proven, that's all. It's not being negative, it's me being right as usual, and all you Wilshere lovers other than rhetoric of HE WILL COME GOOD have no actual footballing arguments to back him starting in our starting 11.

And Wilshere may indeed come good one day, but the sad truth is that his coming good won't be very very elitist good, it will just be good good, nothing special. He's never even been that special in the first place, but because he's English he's been so massively hyped up.

I'm not entirely sure Giroud has proved any doubters wrong.

    Anyway... moving on

We have good squad depth minus Wilshere, he's not missed right now, and we don't need him. Wilshere should have NEVER been ahead of Rosicky this season, and we're all seeing why right now. How in the **** was Wilshere even put in Ozil's attacking midfield position earlier in the season is even more baffling.

He needs to stay injury free to see him at his best, but I disagree that his best will only be good and nothing special. At his best (which we've seen glimpses of) he is a brilliant creative midfielder.
