Evening all. I'll delicately make selective comments tonight. Last thing I want is to stoke the
fighting fires.

1. Where will Ngoyi play? Knowing Redders, it'll be a tossup between goalie, winger, or the Development squad.
2. Re. 'Champonship proven' players, there's a lot of assumption going on here. We've taken on loads of these 'proven' players, and most of them have been a disappointment. Often these players qualify as 'proven' by playing in a team with a successful system, or are at the top of their game fitness-wise, pace-wise etc. Or their goalscoring record (which is often the result of the previous points). So why this cry for 'proven Championship' players? The only reason these guys become available is that they are no longer playing their part in a successful team, or have lost their fitness/pace/goalscoring touch. in other words, they're a gamble. Just like Italian payers. Think of Sharps' contribution this ear. Or our marvellous pair of wingers last season. All proven. All disasters. And more to the point, all more expensive & difficult to get rid of than foreign imports. Give me academy graduates or someone with something to prove any day. I'm happy to wait for them to develop.
3. Crossers. Both Byram & Taylor are putting in first class crosses, and Murphy is delivering decent corners. Creating chances has not been a problem for the team of late. Converting chances into goals has. So let's put the crossing/width arguments to bed for now.
4. Smith. I was a fan, and can't understand why we sold hm. But let's not get carried away. He was not the answer - he was simply an option. And an option that should only come of the bench IMO, or played from the start in selective games. If you look at his last match in the cup, he had 3 excellent heading chances & missed them all. So he's not God's gift, and he's not going to come back riding a white charger. So let's forget about him!
