Monks job is well safe, you can bet on it...Monks job is to replace sub standard players that are just not good enough while at the same time trying to keep us in the premiership, Its a long term project that will take a number of seasons due to players contracts. and its a difficult job to do and so far he has done remarkably well, Some on here are focusing to much on the negatives and not on the positives on how well we are doing this season and the strength of the club. Its not as easy as you think trying to recruit the right players on a wage structure monk has to abide too. Our squad is an ageing with not very good standard in some cases and some are lower premiership standard. we only have a keeper and ash and ki who are quality today but after saying that the positive is that monk has got the team to play and create chances. today we are without ash and ki two of our better players and that has left us short on quality. We have had it so good for such a long time that fans are looking to blame someone and the truth is we are not as good now as we were and we should praise monk and not make him a scape goat and back him like everyone at the club are doing. It's all about survival for the foreseeable future and has been since monk took over....
Well you should read it all and perhaps you might learn a thing or two what is going on at our club. What we are going through now has been explained to me by someone from the club who everyone knows who i speak to on a regular basis...
Opinions are one thing but fantasy is another. Bar Fabianski and Ki (who was ours anyway) there is very little to choose between the players we had last season and this. My opinion is we had a better squad last season. Bony gone, and Monk's signing, Gomis (firing blanks and talking down the club publicly) isn't a step up. Other players have blown hot and cold including Siggy, Montero, Carroll and Fernandez - they need the rest of the season to prove themselves before we can say they have done better than their predecessors. Is Barrow better than Lamah? Debatable. The positive is we have points and that's it. That is excellent but the way we are looking and the way we've performed this season indicates a downward trend in terms of points and definately in terms of performance. 'Its not as easy as you think trying to recruit the right players on a wage structure monk has to abide too' does that exist any more? If we are talking about Gomis being on £85,000,000 a week I would think it has gone straight out of the window, and how many of our managers (or managers in the Premier League) get £8 mn to spend on a centre back we could have done without had the manager been able to manage? Monk as scapegoat!! He's the manager, he engineered the position and showed his gross inexperience (which I can accept) and arrogance (which I can not) in taking apart a good squad because of his personal feelings. Last week we were being told the squad is far better than last season, now it's, 'Our squad is an ageing with not very good standard in some cases and some are lower premiership standard.' Not many weeks ago those of us who were less impressed with Monk were being told to stop being negative we're top 4 then top 6 then top 8. Very few were saying anything other than top 10 is achievable and debated Europa League places. Now, rather than admit the job is too big for their hero we get comments such as, 'It's all about survival for the foreseeable future and has been since monk took over...."
Nail on the head. Dai and his moving targets. Whenever i read one of his posts i automatically get directed to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusion
Well seeing as your pals with Huw, tell him to spend some money on a decent striker and defensive midfielder, oh and while we are at it, tell your mate to tell the club to buy Carroll too.
And isn't the boards job very similar ? They would look to replace a substandard manager that isn't good enough, whilst at the same time trying to keep us in the premiership.
I guess that given we are currently 11pts above the relegation places, the Board are prepared to persevere with, and back, Monk. Presumably, if the gap narrows to say 2 or 3pts, then they will have to consider all options as they did last season - rightly or wrongly (not wishing to re- open that particular debate!)
If you expect anyone to take you seriously you are going to have to tell us who this person is I'm afraid if you don't give us a name I'm going to have to write you off as a fantasist and will lose so much respect for you
It's never going to happen. It's like Michael Buble fans' trying to pretend Frank Sinatra never existed.
