I still have my 1961 Spurs shirt hanging up.I take it down sometimes and start worshiping it.I'm like that!!!!!!!!
Adrian Chiles has been given the boot by ITV and replaced by Mark Pougatch. Please try not to clog up the thread with your tears. Ta.
I have never ever heard David Pleat say a bad word about anyone, but even he, on a reent visit to our training ground, referred to Adrian Chiles as a "****ing idiot".
Just read an interesting stat ahead of the Villa v Bournemouth Cup game tomorrow. Bournemouth have scored more goals in Birmingham this season than Aston Villa have !!!
Gyan with an injury time winner for Ghana against Algeria. Algeria probably need a result, and possibly a win, against Senegal to go through. I'd like to see Bentaleb do well in the tournament, but not quite as much as I'd like him back ASAP. Algeria were due a letdown after a brilliant World Cup in which they came closes to beating Germany. It seems they're having it in the ACON, impressing nobody.
I am in all seriousness really impressed you have a 1961 shirt. Not quite so much that I would worship you worshipping the shirt, but I'd like to see a picture of it. Is it a home shirt? Does it have anything on it other than a blue cockerel on a white badge, outlined in blue, on a white shirt?
Lord,if Bill Nick was looking down today he must have been in tears wondering what has become of the Spurs football he encouraged........ Can you imagine Bill allowing all this one pass forward,4 sideways and two backwards. Are we trying to beat our opponents by boring them to death......?.....and our supporters?
After reading this morning's headline "Samaras loses election", Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung has sent his old Celtic teammate a supply of Viagra.
To be fair I think a lot of things were different back then. The principal one being that during the 60s we were probably the wealthiest club in England. While the differences were not as big as they are now it is an awful lot easier to play good football if you can sign the best players. Nichoson's squad was right up there with our biggest rivals. No manager since has been in that position except possibly Redknapp in his last year. As of now we've got the sixth most expensive squad and it includes a lot of unproven youngsters. And the only thing that matters is coming fourth so we can get our hands on the CL income to build further. Grinding out a few results is going to be necessary I think.
I don't think that's right, we played the Burnley replay on the 14th for a start. Chelsea, Burnley, Palace, Burnley, Sunderland, Sheffield United, Leicester, Sheffield United, West Brom. I think Arsenal have 3 less games than us. 9 in a month on the back of a Christmas schedule is crazy though.
And again at the start of the 70s when we signed Martin Peters. And we were commonly paying big fees then, Gilzean, England, Venables, Mullery, Chivers, Morgan and Coates were all very substantial signings - >£20m in today's money? The last two were not a success though.
