Great first half then took our eyes off the ball, but enough in the end to go through. Pleased for Walcott and ozil getting there goals. Looking forward now to seeing who we get in the next round!
Nope, that was his fault, why collect the ball, and why the **** did he release it quick to Gibbs putting him under pressure? He ALWAYS does this dumb **** with his quick and bad distribution not aware of his surroundings. He's an idiot.
Flamini had a chance today to prove he should be in the team ahead of Coquelin. And he proved that he's not. Ship him off in the summer and bring in someone top quality for Coq to be back-up to.
Oh please Gibbs had plenty of time and space but dithered for a bit instead of looking for the quick release.
Nope, he put him under needless pressure, because he is dumb, end of story. Don't you get it? If Shez NEVER DID THAT Gibbs wouldn't have been in that position! ****ing hell.
I thought Szcz should have held the ball longer in that situation but Gibbs did have time to make a better clearance.
Wow that was very uncomfortable at the end, but credit to the team they got through with some great attacking play. We'll need to be sharper in defence against the Spuds, but I'd imagine we'd field a similar team to the City fixture and make sure we don't give the ****s any room to breathe.
Utd and Liverpool still potentially through and if we got stoke or west ham away it could be a difficult fixture but otherwise I'm confident we will progress if we draw any of the other teams in the competition. It's a good result today and keeps us in a competition with a good chance of more silverware.
I'm not too concerned with the result because that wasn't our strongest 11. Ospina has earned his #1 spot. We need Bellerin back at RB. We've got cover in CB now. The only real issue is DMF. Coq is definitely needed but we need another player in that position. Flamini is not good enough and Arteta is finished.
Szczesny did not fill me with confidence the entire game. None of the goals were directly his fault but he does not command his area, he isn't vocal enough, he is still unreliable when it comes to crosses from out wide coming in and his handling is erratic at best. If he wants to reclaim that starting spot, he had better raise his game because if he carries on the way he has been, he will be warming the bench more than he would like to.
Good result. Untidy second half but we did enough in the first to progress and given some of the giant killings that have taken place this weekend, we did good. Very happy with that, thanks. We move on.
Agreed. I watched that and just thought, "FFS Chesney...". Debating about whether Gibbs had 1 or 2 nanoseconds to 'clear' the ball is irrelevant. Our keeper has possession of the ball... why are we therefore relying on our left back to make a clearance 3 seconds after our keeper has the ball? Indefensibly poor goalkeeping (although not by some it appears...)
And once again Rosicky showing he is miles ahead of Wilshere, how in the **** was Wilshere starting ahead of Rosicky earlier in the season? How much better would our play have been had it been Rosicky instead of Wilshere featuring week in week out during the first months of the season? There is no debate, out of all the creative midfielders, Wilshere is below all of them, or at least he should be below all of them in terms of starting. Let's be honest people, does anyone even remember we have Wilshere out missing? He hasn't been missed at all. If he wasn't English nobody would even give a **** about him.
I think that's a bit unfair on Wilshere. Whilst I agree that Rosicky is ahead of him atm. Wilshere has been injured and hasn't hit any form at at this season. When he is fit though he's a brilliant little midfielder.
I do like Wilshere and I think one day, injuries permitting, will become one of the best. But at the moment, he is not fulfilling expectations. Being England's golden boy has given him a privileged status in both the England team and for Arsenal. Rosicky has been a constant performer for us and I've been wondering why Wenger hasn't been playing him more often. For me he offers a lot and is one of our most rounded midfielders. Sometimes you have to sacrifice individual happiness for the common good of the team.
But the fact remains that, at their best, Wilshere is our worst central offensive midfielder behind Rosicky, Cazorla and Ramsay.
Again, it comes down to the fact that he is English and has had tons of hype heaped on him. I'm not going to bash on the guy as he is clearly talented and very good, but there appears to be obvious bias concerning him. I believe that you play the players that will create the best possible team. No one player should be favoured due to reputation.
