And KIWI - What a ****ing stupid question - when could a cartoon ever justify taking someone's life? it was the reason given apparently so some can justify it Danish will look after the grapes for you and the hops for myself
It is interesting how one can be labelled racist for wishing to preserve a certain culture or way of life against perhaps an incoming population wishing to preserve their own culture or way of life despite their immigration to your shores. Why do some on the Left fiercely defend the right of the immigrant to preserve their culture yet vilify those for whom this has a profound impact on their own status quo? This ....
I do hope you're not swigging Ale, eating black pudding and looking like a fukking boiled tomato over there in Espania Jamesy???

I'm not clear whether this is the same school, but certainly in the same neck of the woods. A different perspective from the Hitchens-You-Hate-You-Know-The-One-That's-Still-Alive... "And now, in a development that seems quite scandalous to me, that horrible Stalinist organisation Ofsted (which permits the continued existence of hundreds of the worst schools in the advanced world) has turned its fury on, yes, a Christian school in Sunderland. You know the one, where Ofsted apparatchiks asked puzzled children what lesbians did. Well, it’s much worse than that. Soon after the inspection (on November 26 and 27 last year), and well before the resulting report was published, Grindon Hall Christian School’s head, Chris Gray, wrote to Ofsted. He complained that the tenor of the inspection was negative and hostile at every stage, ‘as if the data collected had to fit a pre-determined outcome’. He referred to ‘intrusive and deeply personal questioning of children’. Positive comments by children were ignored. One sixth-former complained the inspector ‘seemed very negative’, adding: ‘Most of the questions that were asked were related to bullying/homophobia/racism/extremism… She seemed to have the view that since we are a Christian school we don’t respect other religions and views.’ And a few weeks later, out came the report which, as Mr Gray described it, ‘grades the best performing secondary state-funded school in Sunderland (latest published GCSE results) as the worst’. All of this material, as well as the report, is displayed on the school’s website. All I can say is that, while the Home Secretary claims to be defending us against Islamist extremism, another equally dangerous anti-Christian extremism has infiltrated much of the British state, where it rules unchallenged. It’s odd that bishops, so vocal on the welfare state and other Leftist topics, do not seem interested in defending their faith against this sort of thing." If true, some interesting points about the line of questioning of pupils, the grading of the school despite it's academic rating and the failure of the Church's bishops to act. Like I've said before I am not God Squad, and I have no particular axe to grind either way with this, but I do think a major factor in the decline of the Anglican Church in this country has been the way it's senior spokespeople act as apologists. I'd have thought that by definition the Church should show similar intransigence as we see with Islam and not try to re-interpret the word of the Good Book as times change.
Different school, though who cares. These schools could have the best results in the country, the simple idea of 'education' based on 'faith' stinks, it's indoctrination and is hateful. Just as education based on Marxist or Facist ideology would be hateful. Perhaps Hitchens should pray for his old fashioned vengeful God to intervene on behalf of the ignorant sheep who follow him. Or perhaps God takes a dim view of his worshippers and wishes they would just piss off. At least the last 3 prime ministers have been avid and fervant churchgoers, Blair a complete bug eyed Catholic lunatic, thankfully none of them have been able to halt the decline of the Anglican church and other Christian sects. Let's hope they can work the same magic on the Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists etc.
Stan is most likely the brightest chap on here, but makes no secret of his hatred of religion. It's his intolerance, I guess. Me? I pretty much don't give a **** about much that doesn't really affect me personally. If the Muslims want to oppress their women and demand strict obedience then fine, let 'em I say. I just don't want any part of it. If some full-on Christian with a pamphlet accosts me in the street and tells me that I'm going to burn in the eternal fire, I'll tell him to **** off, as I have literally done so in the past. But if families consider themselves followers of a religion and bring their offspring up as such, then that's their prerogative in my opinion. Who am I to tell anybody how to raise their own child? It's only when any of this attempts to come into my own house that I will react aggressively. Indoctrination is a funny old thing, really. If you're (for the sake of argument) a young Muslim child raised in a Muslim family in a Muslim community, then of course you're most likely going to adopt the beliefs and cultures of those around you in much the same way as a Hindu, Jew, Christian, Atheist or Anti-Theist. It is natural that people in general want to fit in with their immediate surroundings. If your parents, their parents, your neighbours, friends and Uncle Mohammed Cobbly all are ardent Muslims then you'd have to be remarkably headstrong and brave to choose a different path for yourself, wouldn't you? One can rail against religion but I don't see it going someplace else anytime soon. If the late Christopher Hitchens was correct - and I happen to suspect that he was - in that most (if not all) organised religions are nothing more than a device for man to control man (and especially man to control woman), then I'm pretty sure that without it man will always find another way to exert control. Soviet Russia and the North Korean regimes offer excellent examples of this.
The interesting part of Stan and Uber's exchanges is the fact that the school mentioned is the highest achieving. I'd suspect it is able to so based on the teaching of morality (albeit a forced but well enough defined one). I'm speculating but I'd suspect it's the amoral influence in classrooms that draws the resources and prevents excellence. Of course, amorality can be introduced in the form of overzealous religious doctrine but not necessarily so. Amorality is perhaps as big an evil for children as radicalisation within schools but needs to be tackled by the parental aspect too.
