Jezki &Gilgamboa double in a JP McManus shock at Leopardstown...8/1. UDS is very much about potential and at least we get half an answer to the question today. The other one is about how will he handle Cheltenham.
Get a feeling that if UDS wins easily he'll be ridiculed for beating nothing (yet the same lot are tipping 'nothing' to beat him)! We'll also read the usual he's turning into an epic Cheltenham lay stuff too, 'take the lot' on him lol If he wins unimpressively we'll have the no chance at Cheltenham rant despite the fact today's opponents are much better than the English novices! A very different argument is tailored however when TNO scraps past 1000/1 CH horses- it's seen as a triumph as 'they'll get a better price now' lol Whatever UDS does today, he definitely won't win with some! Their arguments will be tailored accordingly lol
Sedgefield 3:35 Shadrack - In good form and unbeaten at the track. Leopardstown 3:50 Heathfield - The Martin/Walsh combination is always worth following, have backed a few winners when they've teamed up this year. Also, they won this race last year and look good to do it again.
Much better ground today should make it very, very close between Jezki & The Fly and at the prices Jezki makes slightly more appeal with the ground riding quicker. The Irish Arkle is a proper race, despite there being only 3 runners. What I find fascinating is that only 1 of these has won a Grade 1 over fences, he is getting 10lbs from the other 2 and yet he is the outsider of the field . Un De Sceaux is very hard to weigh up - he never faced anything remotely near top table over hurdles (and I include Gemix in that statement) and much is being made of the horse he beat into second last time, Smashing, dotting up next time out at Gowran Park. I shall remain curious. Gilgamboa is starting to look like a very decent novice, he had Adriana Des Mottes well beaten when she came to grief at the last at Limerick, and only Wille Mullins will know how good a yeardstick she really is (yes, she beat Rule The World but was getting a stack of weight). Clarcam's victory over Vautour is being somewhat overlooked as there was a huge form swing on their previous meeting and Vautour made a bad mistake. The proximity of Ted Veale gave the form a decent look though, he went on to run a great race over hurdles recently and is clearly in good heart, so I think Clarcam's victory should be respected. He still looked quite babyish during that race and there is clearly much more to come from him, so in receipt of 10lbs today and at 4/1 he rates the value bet in the race for me.
Young maestro Skelton confirms Value at Risk to be aimed at the Albert Bartlett. Swore I read somewhere he could run in a Supreme with his pace lol
Not from me fella, I always thought and still do that at this stage the Neptune would be his race. Definitely falls into the category of whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus as he will be one beast of a chaser!
Very good from Un De Sceaux, liked the way Walsh managed to keep a lid on him mid race and then up the ante again later on.
Lovely round from UDS - small field but all top class animals. No complaints about Gilgamboa, beaten fair and square.
5/4 if you can get odds against after that I'll be amazed! UDS, Faugheen and Annie Power Tuesday treble
Candy from a ****ING baby lads Best 2miler around. Oppose him at your ****ing peril Not meant for you stick, chap.
But seriously a very nice performance and regardless of if he gets up the hill will anything get close to catch him even if he is wandering about. I'd have Clarcam better than any English novice so they must go some to beat UDS there, well done anyone lumping on the 4/5 today nice investment.
Was me who said wouldnt be scared to run him in the Supreme, would be after yesterday! Agree with you though that Neptune is still the right race for him.
