That was exactly what I thought about him while he was playing for Dunfermline as well. Big, strong, head on a stick for defending set pieces. In open play as much as he likes to get stuck in with a proper tackle you always feel defence is a bad idea because you need to have someone behind him for when he inevitably tries to skip past 3 opposition players.
We did trial him in defensive midfield just before he left. Played half decent but you couldn't help but think that he was a ssquare peg in a round hole. Just didn't look convincing enough to play him there for a whole season.
