There are people on these boards that have said we will hold our own without new faces and i agree in principle. But looking at the possible team variations put about by fans, 1 or 2 injuries and we look soft. Also Dickson for Harding would be my only change.
For me we shouldn't switch the formation around the 4-4-2 seems to be the most well organised of them all with for me: Gk: Davis Rb: Richardson / butterfield Cb: Jaidi Cb: Fonte Lb: Harding / Dickson Rm: chambo Cm: chaplow Cm: spiderman Lm: lallana Rs: Barnard Ls: Lambert However the other alternative formation, if we were going to switch it around would be the fifa formation of 4-1-2-1-2 with my selection staying the same but with the mid changing it up to: Cdm: spiderman Rm: chambo Lm: chaplow Cam: lallana But potentially I would keep lallana lm as opposed to cam because he seems to play well down the line and think chaplow could easily hold the cam role not to mention that guly could also play it when going for even more attack? What do you guys think?
What do his lawyers mean: Barney won't get a fair trial in Southampton! I'd understand if the prosecution said it.
I would go with Guly in the central role, I like Lallana cutting in from the left. With the two holding midfielders it gives the front four more freedom. Would allow Chamberlain to use his pace further up the pitch with slightly less defensive responsibilities. .
I think that jaidi will be ok in the championship and think Martin will hold his own smd they will be rotated but just feel we could use another cb as 2nd / 1st choice to partner fonte.
I also think Jaidi will be fine with a good pre-season. If he fades, it's a great opportunity for Aaron Martin, who I think is Fonte's future partner. Jaidi's experience will give him the extra yard. So long as his job isn't to mark the 5 foot nothing wingers who can run the length of the pitch in under 10 seconds, I'm not worried.
Yer but Jaidi did look vulnerable in League 1 so i can see him being a player that does not make the bench. I feel that martin and dan are better than him.
Not much love for Deano in our team sheets and thats with just three central midfielders. I see him playing head of Chappers though

Jaidi might be useful in certain games where the opposition play plenty of long balls and crosses but lack pace. He could come on last 10mins to shore things up if we're ahead. I'd be disappointed if dan was picked ahead of martin. It's so obvious who is the better defender, I don't understand people's deliberation over this.
