Holmes had retired. He hadn't fought in two years. He came back for the purse. He was old, unfit and un prepared. The fact that he went onto have a world title fight aged 47 is still further proof of the state of the heavy weight division.

Frank Bruno was a terrible boxer. He was slow as a week in the jail ffs. If ever there was a fighter who fits the famous Ali Mummy skit it's our Frank.

You seem to have a wee thing for Iron Mike that makes you talk ****e and ramble on something rotten.

Prime for prime Ali would have destroyed Tyson. Ali is also the most entertaining heavyweight there has every been.

Sorry mate but thems the facts.

Larry Holmes, Tyson, Hollyfield, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, both Klitschko brothers.

So none of these are/where great heavyweights?

I'd say they all where

The 3 best wins of Tyson's career where Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Pinklon Thomas. All where class fighters!

I don't really get your point about him being a great street fighter but not boxer, there is more than one way to box. You don't have to box on the back foot like Floyd Mayweather to be a great boxer.

There are lots of different styles in boxing, but it's all still boxing, not street fighting!

Having said that Tyson wasn't just a heavy hitter, he was aggressive but he also showed great skill in avoiding punches and landing his own as he stepped in on opponents. Go and watch some of his early world title fights, and watch how he weaves in and out of punches to land his own. He was a great mover in the ring. You need to have good movement to get in close on opponents and avoid the jab, to deliver the heavy shots that Tyson was famous for:biggrin:

No only Spinks was at the end of his career, and that was more because Tyson himself ended his career. Spinks had only had 32 fights.

Holmes and Thomas had lots of fights after there defeat to Tyson

How many world championships did Holmes and Thomas win after fighting Tyson? I would guess...none, because they were too old. Name one guy Tyson beat that will impress me. (By the way, I am a Tyson fan)

Your wrong here, Pinklon Thomas won the world heavyweight title again in 1992, 5 years after being KO by Tyson.

Larry Holmes may not have won another world title but he went 12 rounds with Holyfield at 42, and he lost out in a split decision for the title when he was 47. It just goes to show what a great fighter Holmes was to be competitive in world title matches well into his 40s.

Tyson probably didn't face Holmes at his absolute peak, but Holmes was still a class act at 38. The manner in which Tyson beat him has to be taken into consideration aswell. Tyson nearly killed him, it was only the bravery of Holmes that kept him in it for 4 rounds.
