Been too many for me, cannot understand this even if Rangel was at his best, but now it's just suicide, Rangel is a spent force sad to say..........
Well our manager was a defender and if he was going to get anything right it would be defending set pieces.
We know poor old Rangel's first name is divine but it's probably not Angel, it's Jesus. He has a hole in each foot where he's nailed to the floor on match day.
Well, another uncomfortable afternoons viewing but well done Blackburn. But even bigger congratulations must go to Bradford, a team that we beat in the Capital One Cup 5-0, who today came from 2 down to beat Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge; yes, the same Chelsea that last week beat us 5-0!! Funny old game innit!!! Think the Chelsea humiliation has shot our confidence to pieces and it is now a case of 'get to 40 points asap!!' Thank God we started the season like a runaway train because at the minute we look more like an asthmatic snail! But the performances were poor way before the Chelsea massacre and there are too many players just coasting along. Our defence is creaking and we seem to struggle when teams press us high up the pitch - we don't seem to be able to pass our way out of trouble anymore and that is a concern. All of the goals we conceded today were soft and our attacking play was compromised because our offensive players had to spend most of the time helping out in defence! Gomis can go as far as I'm concerned, the Incredible Sulk just hasn't stepped up to the plate - not a peep from him when he was number two, banking a huge salary from the bench - as soon as he is told he is number one he starts moaning and angling for another big payday for him and his agent! But Gomis is the least of our problems - whether or not the Bartley red was harsh is missing the point - he was too casual and was caught out by pace! Amat was woeful and Tiendalli was Tiendalli! Rangel is past his best and Fernandez had another bad day at the office! At 30 points we are 11 from the relegation places but we can't afford to be complacent! If we don't sort our **** soon we will be dragged into a dogfight and with Southampton away our next match we need to man up sooner rather than later! Am hoping South Korea get knocked out of the Asian Cup because we could really do with the class of Ki at the minute, and I also hope that lickle Leon comes back soon! Will be missing Gylfi for a few games - the insane look on his face when he went for that 'tackle' said it all and I don't think we will be appealing the decision! Is not all doom and gloom though - after so many crap performances we must be due a decent one - and we have some fixtures coming up that should get us some points: Southampton next - forget it! Then Sunderland at home, West Brom away, Manure at home (easy 3 points ), Burnley away - gotta get something from that! 16 games left and if we can't get ten points from that then we don't deserve to be in this league! Not a great time to be a Jack but when have we ever done things the easy way? Gonna go watch Jack to a King again and remind myself why I support this wonderful football team! Yes, it is painful at times but couldn't imagine a life without my Swans!
yep we will support the swans no matter what happens, the teams mood can change quickly so hope theres a bit of bouncebackability left in them this season.
Not just Rangel - the commentary I had mentioned a few times how the Swans could have done their homework on the Blackburn players who were making the back four look like statues. King was mentioned several times along with the term "X has no answer' to is pace (different names fro X) Rangel was marking Gestede because Bartley had gone off and Fernandez and Siggy were marking thin air.
Not really, we, including Monk, were shambles defending set pieces when Kenny and Roberto were managers - only when Sousa arrived did we see an improvement - we had to as we had no reliable goal scorers.
Interestingly, Utd are now playing passing football and are a shambles at the back after years of having great solid defensive units, Liverpool before BR took over were strong defensively but are now as bad as us at set pieces and RM has destroyed the defensive work that David Moyes built at Everton. Makes you wonder if you can have a solid back four playing this style of football with the managers wanting a footballing defender. Quite frankly, I don't want defenders that are good at passing the ball as their main attribute. In this league, we need proper, dare I say it, old school British defenders in this league.
Much merit in this post. Ideally, what is needed is a combination of both styles, with player's comfortable on the ball, but also knowing when to put the ball in Row Z. "Old school British defenders" would invariably spend too much time on suspension,so a real luxury.
The same with Arsenal Vetch. They were successful under Wenger because of the back four unit George Graham built (old school British as it were). Once they retired, Wenger has struggle for the last 10 years to build a quality back four because of his footballing philosophy. That is how Chelsea are so formidable. JM has a back four of 'proper' defenders. The same with Mark Hughes at Stoke. He has done a very good job there in changing their footballing style, whilst keeping their physical and very good defensive organisation. Tbh, although I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea, I'd replace Monk with Hughes in a heartbeat. We need a Ryan Shawcross at the heart of our defence and a powerhouse in midfield.
