I think it was just due to: 1) every one being crap. 2) match fitness. We will see if Tom is right by the end of this window.
I don't really care much about cup competitions. Different football upbringing, mind you. I am a little puzzled by the amount of goals we conceded, it's really unlike Southampton. It must have been a strange match. But we do miss a good chunk of the first team.
Thought Cork was dire today. Chamakh senses his hesitation and general indecisiveness and sprung on him all afternoon. Very uncharacteristic from Davis too today and Tadic is just horrifically one dimensional when he's stuck on the left. Only real positive was Bertrand today, impressive again both out wide and in the middle. Good day to have a bad one though, let's hope that's all it is!
Disappointing, but not a massive surprise. We don't seem up for cup games, which is not good enough really. Long is a loss, potentially Gardos too!? But, at least our loss is a minor 'cupset' in comparison to the others. We only have the league to concentrate on. Hopefully Pelle finally getting a goal will thrust him back into goal scoring form again. Yoshida will presumably be back for Swansea. Swansea themselves picked up a couple of suspensions today and we will be a week closer to Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Alderweireld returning.
No word on Gardos being injured is there? I think he was just subbed to change the formation. Koeman has said we may need to think about transfers.
It was a poor result, though not shocking against another PL club. The team were out of sorts, unbalanced in some way, but better now than in the league. No player had a bad game deliberately, so no point being angry with them. Move on.
Um, the lack of effort was the main thing that has annoyed people. So yes you can moan at them, but you have to move on sometime.
Shame about the result but today shows how tough it is to manage the league and cups, personally I would take a league win every time quick question: do red cards from FA cup count in league as Swansea had 2 players sent off today and we play them next?
Beefy Intrigued by your comments as I don't think anyone emerged from that performance with any credit and Ward-Prowse was as culpable as any. True, he fired an amazing cross field pass at one point ion the second half, but he never looks like he will score. I think this is a serious flaw in what has otherwise been quite a rapid and promised development. He really needs to contribute more goals. Whenever I see him lining up a shot you know it will go over or go wide. I would select an in form Cork over JWP every time. no one played well this afternoon and it was as poor a couple of performances from Clyne and Bertrand as I have seen. Palace were extremely impressive and ran most of the game, never looking like they would ever lose even when the fell behind twice. A good result for Pardew's men but a huge let down from the Saints.
I think Gardos was taken off to prevent a red card, the Referee was keen to get our players autographs, and was Targetts first tackle really a yellow card? Right in front of me and I didn't think it was anymore than a slide tackle that was mistimed.
You should be OK with Premier League threads, just don't do any more FA Cup ones and you will be fine. Post Number 10 grand! I was hoping it would have been used for a triumphal message but can't win them all...........
JWP and Davis both came close in the first half but yeah, their shooting leaves a lot to be desired. Anyway, the lads have more than earned a day off. Finally, congratulations to young Ryan Seager.
With City and Chelsea joining us on the sidelines it really puts the cat among the pigeons so to speak. If say we were to finish 4th and a team below us won the FA Cup that would put paid to our Champions League aspirations. And if Tottenham or Liverpool won the Europa League then we need to finish in the top 5 to automatically go into Europe next season.
I wasn't really giving Prowse credit. He at least tried to set things up and his passing was better then every one elses. That's about it really, nothing to shout about. Davis and Prowse are both poor when it comes to shooting.
Hope I am wrong and you are right Brendy but I thought the FA Cup winners go to the Champions League so I will need to check this out!!
