Aquilani, goes on loan for a season and comes back to wear number 36! haha, doubt he will be though. Who is the number 40 in the bottom picture? Is it Ayala?
Yeah it's Ayala. I never really rated Insua but he could have improved on his loan spell and Kenny could get more out of him than Benitez did.
I think Insua deserves at LEAST a full season under Kenny's guidance. He was thrust in the deep end when we had a defensive crisis and for a young lad, I thought overall he did quite well. Sure, there was always room for improvement and he didn't hit the ground running like Robinson & Flanagan did, but Insua definitely improved with more game time. I'm glad he's back with us.
A common opinion but not one I subscribed to. He didn't have pace but he could get to the byeline and could cross a ball better than Aaron Lennon could at that age. No point getting there quicker to sky it over the bar. Defensively he needed work, like Johnson, but he was improving steadily. Rafa knew defence and so does Steve Clark so I think his defending can still improve, just as Johnson's has. And another player who can cross for Carroll is not going to go amiss.
I must say, I wasn't Insuas biggest fan but I wasn't Spearings biggest fan before KK came in, so give him a chance to prove his worth!
guys. the other lad with the mohawk is martin hansen.... notice hes the onyl one in tracksuit bottoms... also dansih so him and agger probably had a bet or something.
oh and on insua. i defended him robust for the first 6 months of his season when he did play but after that he went down hill badly, lost confidence.... lads hammering a kid relentlessly and him reading it (his mistake!) I think he's decent. if we grew another 2-3 inches, lost a stone and works hard he could be an international. Perosnally i think seeing as out side was utter dross it was a bit rich blaming him for out bad defense, then hodgons came in and he wanted to go. I have an issue with that, pushed or wanted to go? not usre how committed he is anymore.
