So why didn't he do something about it. he has had plenty of time to get rid of the old and the not so good but didn't surely that is down to one person the incompetent GM. If the squad isnt good enough it is his fault. All this bits and pieces money spent on young hopefulls means nothing if we are relegated. Get the first team squad right first then look for youngsters. At the moment he is out of his depth and unable to change anything when things are not going our way. I am not sure he has a plan a yet alone a B or C.

    I did,but's it's all relative.

A friend and I,both disgusted with the teams' performances, went so far as to submit a letter to The Evening Post, entitled -

"No longer will we retch at The Vetch".

Fair play, they printed it,and we felt better, but team continued on their downward spiral.

Other clubs have lots of players on contracts and they manage it and bring in better. Your blind adoration of this man is now getting embarassing. I would love you to name the ones that are to old and not very good.

What option do we have? Shelvey will be fine as a CAM where he's less of a liability. Canas was our CDM but he didn't cut it for whatever reason but we never replaced him.

You dunderhead. Do we still play at The Vetch? My post was in response to an earlier one. Go back and read it.

The only good thing I spotted today was that Huw Jenkins looked very miserable and couldn't wait for the game to finish, and that was when it was 1-1!! So expect some movement at the club after that horror show.

Players that are simply not good enough, are Shelvey, Tiedalli, Barrow, Rangel, Gomis. I cannot wait though to see one player gone, and that is Shelvey, he's lazy, petulant, and breaks up our midfield play, and at the minute we do not need such ill discipline in our midfield, as for Gomis I would give him 1 or 2 more games then put him back on the bench. If we are not going to bring in another striker this window, then I can only see Emnes doing a job as long as we use him correctly.

Now to Monk, I have criticised his poor subs on and off most of the season, but I have more importantly also in many games struggled to see his 'game-plan' and both today and at Chelsea it was baffling, people are saying 'what the hell is up' or 'why have we lost our passing game' well you cannot just blame Monk for the latter, but you certainly can for 'what the hell was that?', something is definitely not right at the moment, and it may well be that Monk knows and can put it right, but my opinion is that he is struggling and needs some help. It does not help when your best player has been sold, and your stand out midfielder this season in Ki, is away on international duty, add to that the sure game of Leon Britton, and retention of the ball is going to slip, particuarly when you stick Shelvey in the middle too?? these are issues Monk is going to have to address, but Ki and Britton coming back into the midfield are a big plus for Monk, and the team.

Rangel I feel sorry for, he's been a great servant, and it's sad to see him go down hill so fast, never seen a player go that way so quickly, we need him replaced ASAP. Monk needs to go back to basics of keep ball, there is need for him to reflect on Rodgers and Sousa passing and possession game, he knows the training techniques, from Martinez onwards, so he needs to go back to that, if we have the ball, then the other team cannot hurt you, sounds simple, but Monk has struggled to achieve it this season, and that I find difficult to understand given he has had it drilled into him from so many of our previous managers, if he does not sort out the rot, in the next 6 games, I hope he goes the same way as Laudrup, got no time for losers in the beautiful game................<ok>

Phil that is a fair post, but I look at today, we sign Naughton because we and obviously GM knows we need a RB, it is clear we need him to play against Saints. So why not start him today and give him an hour because a lot of what played today will have to play next week. What purpose does it serve leaving him sitting on the bench. Some of GM desicions are just mind boggling and I have to be honest and just feel that he doesnt have the experience to sort this. I hope it is wrong and he keeps us mid table, but if he continues in the vain we are now I fear under his leadership a slide towards the bottom 3.

Canas was hit and miss but never could he be described as uninterested. His performances only hit the floor once Monk was in charge and ended the season trying to convince everyone Fulton was a world beater.

My only thought on Monks 'mind boggling decisions' is that he is trying to stay on the good side of the players, and in trying to keep them happy, he's is making bad decisions, and you cannot please all the players, it's about time he started upsetting a few by benching them, if they are not hacking it then get them off.....<ok>

That was my concern when he was given the job. His old mates are still getting a lot of game time. He needs to be honest with hiself and the players not performing.

He's on his second but his first was wasted getting rid of players rather than building the squad - simply bringing in who were no better than what we had, not addressing long term problems and making big statements about how many more players are coming in, losing his rag over questions about strikers will wind people up.
But today was about more than the squad - we have too many players coming in and out of the team for no good reason - Laudrup was (in my view) rightly criticised for not playing a settled team (difficult given the number of competitions and injuries he had to contend with) but Monk seems to do it to make a point or because he wants to keep everyone happy. As a result we have been unconvincing all season - too many changes mean players don't get a chance to gel. Today we had 9 players who have been in and out of the team and three who haven't played for weeks. That disruption has been building to the point we no longer have a team; we start games with 11 players but they are not a team.

I believe so how many were shipped out and how many brought in. He took over in Feb and had plenty of time to asses the squad and what he wanted to keep and what he wanted to get rid of.
