I'm a little confused by this. You already insist that he is a "good manager",and have regaled us with this opinion, for almost a year.
I've supported him and backed him to the hilt because he is our manager. In the league, so far he has done a decent job, and kept us in the top half of the table all season. What's your question?
Top half of the premiership....i dont need to say any more as that makes all you monk haters look fools.....
I'm not sure about the saying that a manager is only as good as his last game but it's not unfair to judge them on recent history and Monk's is poor. It can't be argued that if we carry on playing the way we have recently we'll be relegated imo. That's not scare mongering, it's just an opinion. He needs to address these problems fast or lose his job because whether we like it or not Laudrup went down a similar path and he was given the boot, and that was after winning a cup.
You're being unfair there Vetch, IMO. There is no Monk fan club - well, apart from one member! Most have been trying to give him a chance and will dish out credit AND criticism when due.
Well one thing is for certain, Monkistas can no longer claim that Monk's first season is going to be better than Laudrup's. Sadly, we are now fighting for our survival with a Gomis for a #9 .... look up the Wiki definition of a Gomis ..... somebody that flatters to deceive and fails to execute, can't jump, can't lay a simple through ball, can't shoot on target, can't lay the ball off, doesn't chase back and thinks he worth a shed load of money .... which he apparently convinced our brains trust to pay him. I want his agent.
A great deal is being made by some that the team is currently in 9th place. Whilst that is true,it is also true that at one point the team was in 1st place. So they have worked their to 9th,via,2nd.; 3rd.; 4th.; 5th.; 6th.; 7th.; and 8th. There was a brief blip where they went back up a place, but that was temporary. Most,if not quite ALL of the movement has been in a downward direction. Now,one doesn't need to be a mathematical,or any kind of,genius to recognise that a distinct pattern has emerged. The lower half of the table beckons, and could well be achieved in the next few weeks. Were this scenario to unfold - what then?
I'm not saying Oliviera will do any better but he had two shots today, one was blacked as he hit it the other was on target. Gomis could be great in the right team, we don't know but as a recent regular France player he must have had something about him, unfortunately we aren't giving him the opportunities he can take or is capable of taking. If we could get his signing on fee as a payment I think he should be allowed to move on. However, this is from Wales online - "Garry Monk has slammed reports linking Swansea City with an £11m move for Jordan Rhodes. Monk had been claimed to be opening talks with Rovers about a move for the Scotland frontman ahead of their FA Cup fourth round clash, a game where the Swans were shocked in a 3-1 win for the Championship side. But an angry Monk, reeling from the result, hit out at the transfer talk when asked whether he would be going in for another striker this January and if that striker would be Rhodes. Monk bristled: “I've already said I don't want another striker – and I don't know where that (Rhodes) has come from, it's ridiculous." GM not a happy man!
Well, I can remember an extraordinary amount of vitriol, ridicule, abuse and denigration coming my way, and the way of others, for daring to point out that the uncertified, lower league journey man CB, with dubious behind the scenes practices tantamount to sabotage, couldn't cut paper with a scissors. A fan club may be not, but there is a very large cohort deluded, narrow minded, and drunk on the club/Monk cool-aid ..... and you all know who you are .... who gave it large to anybody pointing out the obvious. It's nice to see that you're finally coming out of rehab and taking your medication to experience with eyes wide open the agony of the rest of the season.
Yankee you are spot on with Gomis, Sell the useless twat, he isnt fit to wear the shirt, He is less than interested in being here and the money we are paying him is ridiculous. I would rather cut our loses and shift him out now. I have heard that we are are about to offer him an improved contract to keep him here. If that is true then GM needs to fall on his sword before he gets sacked.
Yes, I felt an unbridled gush of optimism over Oli with those two shots ...... jeez, is Gomis really that bad, I guess he must be. Monkster ... is starting to show his true colors. These "book bursts" are going to come thicker and faster me thinks. I wonder whose "attitude" he's going to attribute this week's mess to.
Well if he cant see we need a striker then he really does need to walk. For Gomis read Aiden Sh1tehouse totally useless.
