Which considering the lack of travel in comparison is not all that great, be interesting to compare him to Laudrups first season, which would be a better representation as no Europa league to contend with
My Ideal team for southampton would be: Fab Kyle, Fernandez, Ash, Taylor New (CDM) Caroll Dyer, Shelvey, Montero Gomis I would prefer to play Oli instead of Gomis but I feel we need to give Gomis enough time, like we gave Bony. In this transfer window id like to see: Winger (Redmond) CDM ????????
I won't have that we never looked this bad under Laudrup. That 2-0 loss to a 10-man West Ham was a bad as I've seen this season too. We were 1 win in 10 games at that point. We were bad. We were completely toothless and throwing games and points away. While we are currently looking the same as that right now, we're fortunate enough to have built up a much bigger buffer than Laudrup had built up last season. So, despite the fact that we look as poor right now, we have a safe buffer with time to put things right. The start of Laudrup's last season didn't give us a buffer and the board made an understandable decision to change things as we were flirting with relegation at the time. Monk has a buffer right now, but if we start to fall down the lower half of the table and flirt with relegation again, I expect the board to start considering a change of manager once again.
http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/35968/bartley-is-your-man-of-the-match Kyle Bartley was the player who took your votes to be named the Planet Swans man of the match for the Capital One Cup win over Rotherham at the Liberty. Ops I thought this was for the blackburn game, that will teach me to skim read!!!! hahahaha!
I've read through some of Mr Hero's comments and I'm ........ confused and bemused. How did Monk have a "dilapidated squad" to choose from? Have I missed something? I still don't think it's helpful to make comparisons with Laudrup because what's done is done but it's hard to escape the fact that we are on a downward slide in terms of performances (League position will follow if that continues) and Laudrup was sacked after going on a similar run. Sort this out Gary or you'll be next!
Nobody we will get stuffed with our FIRST team so play the kids can't do any worse than that shower of ****e.
Mr Dai stop being so one demential with your views! we're poor ATM and with our best asset gone we are looking to go into free-fall. Don't get me wrong I like Monk but I feel he needed/needs to work under an experianced manager, its too big of a gamble to take the risk IMO!
But you cannot deny if the recent trend of very poor performances where we can't pass the ball accurately and give the ball away continues we'll be facing relegation in no time. Only 11 points off it right now with a long way to go. If you're not in the least bit concerned then you should be.
Tell me your having a laugh!!!! What building a team for Championship football, because under Monk thats where were heading. If Huw and the board can't see that, then there a bunch of deluded Muppets.
I just looked at last 19 games since the 3 back to back wins to start. I think they gave us false hope as the 19 games since have shown.
We were yet again piss poor today. GM has to take the blame for the shambles that is the back 4 at the moment. Now is the time to find out if he has what it takes and I hope he has or it could cost us our position at the top flight. I don't care what some of the GM lovers or haters are saying, we are playing very poorly at the moment and there is no signs of this changing. To say we had a dilapidated squad is nonsense, We had the same players available as the one that played against WHU. GM tactics and selections and his motivating of players is poor at best as it stands and now is the time for him to step up and show all what ge is made of. What happened to we will make amends for last weeks performance. We need 3 or 4 players in my mind to make the squad competative again a squad that GM has put together. We have no presence in the midfield and as long as that continues we wull struggle to get any results. I fear for us next week against a good Saints side. It is going to be a long second half of the season. GM time to earn your money.
Maybe he would be better of coaching in the Premiership because he isnt doing a very good job in the Premier League, perhaps he is a better rugby coach.
But last season there were some highlights, a lot of highlights - this season the terms 'we won ugly', 'we rode our luck' and 'this is not like Swansea' have applied to early all our games; and far more players were unavailable through injury for far longer but stayed in three cup competitions. Laudrup was criticised for not having a plan 'B' atm I'd be happy with a plan 'A'. As for throwing points away! This season we have lost more points from a winning position than any other team in the league. We were lucky to have played a shockingly bad ManU on the opening day (their following results show how poor they were, we scraped past a dire Burnley and won a good 3 pts from WBA. Then after being awful against Chelsea, Southampton we were again lucky to draw with Sunderland and Newcastle before losing to Stoke, beating an abject Leicester and picking up with a an unlucky draw v Everton and a very good win v Arsenal. Apart from the resurgent Manchester United and Arsenal we have beaten teams currently in 20th, 19th, 18th, 17th, 15th & 14th - only one convincingly.
Shelvey? Really? We have needed a CDM for two years so obviously not all Monk's fault - but he should have strengthened where we needed strengthening rather than replacing the people he didn't like.
you see what i mean... you have got to know what you are talking about first about football. you can be MOM in one game but if you are not consistent then you are no good for the team. Monk has inherited a mixture of not very good to past their sell by date to reasonable and good. So far he has shown that he can get a side of that mixture to play quite good (9th proves this) but once you lose a couple of the better players then we will struggle to play good as the players are not good enough. Monk is doing better than was expected and he is building his own side for the future. Anyone who is up to date about the swans will Know how much on going work is being done not just by monk but everyone at the club and most things are progressing well. there are a few snags and obstacles like getting players that have been targets but most of that is because clubs know we have money and want more than what we are prepared to pay for a player and it will take longer to acquire them or not at all. Work is also being done at the training ground as well as the liberty with trying to buy the stadium which will be a long term if at all goal. The accademy are not far away of reaching stage one category where our teams which some are top of their leagues will be eligible to play the better sides. our under 18's and under 21's are at the top and having a great season and when you couple that where the senior team is then i cant see what anyone's got to complain about. Losing today with not our best side and a player sent off after 7min and away against a good championship side is not that bad when you compare results of 4 bigger sides all playing at home losing to much lesser club than we played. this puts things into perspective.
I do seem to see a different game to the rest of you which is because, just like the majority on here, when I was younger I was passionate and a little bit one=eyed. Now as I approach my dotage I am more dispassionate and as a result I enjoy my football even more. Also I remember the season we had to apply for re-election to the league when I was so disillusioned I actually gave my season ticket away. If you think today's performance was bad you should have seen those then.
