Let's change the name White Hart Lane to Gruesome Gulch or something. 62% to 38% possession and yet again we don't make it count.
Ah bugger. Gutted to go out but at least we have the League Cup ahead of us and a few less games to play :/ Doesn't sound like it was a great performance from us by any means. Was a bit of a second string team and Leicester made a good game of it in the league recently so perhaps we shouldn't be so surprised.
I know I've been saying all along that we've been struggling and that our results are just not good enough but I at least expected to beat Leicester. Two penalties in two matches is total rubbish.
Thing is that we always look short of ideas when Eriksen doesn't play. I mean we even look short of ideas when he does play half the time. But we either need the likes of Lamela, Chadli and Townsend to suddenly step up a level or two, or Eriksen to never get tired or injured or lose form, or a player in the window who can provide a bit of spark. All three of those scenarios seem equally unlikely.
Wednesday was already a big game because a cup final and trip to Wembley is always a great occasion, but in the context of this season for us it would be a serious achievement IMO. Now its a huge, huge game. Lose it and we've ballsed up a very winnable game in the FA Cup which we were winning with and thrown away a lead in a 2 leg tie against a League 1 side within a single week. Thats horrible for team morale. Win and we're on an instant high, lose it and there need to be even more serious questions being asked than there should be already after what sounded like a seriously drab performance today from what was, although a second string side, still you'd have thought a capable one.
We will never tire of going onto the back foot after taking the lead, then losing that lead. We can create goals pretty well, I think, but can't defend to save our lives. So crawling into a shell one goal up and hoping that somehow the other team will miss all of the many chances we gift them does not seem the best strategy. It seems to me we've got two decent CBs. Or, rather, Vertonghen is certainly one, and Dier is looking like he may be another. Maybe if they play we won't keep repeating this pattern. Incidentally, I don't quite understand booing Adebayor. Everyone's paid good money. They're certainly entitled to their opinion. Adebayor has ticked me off at times as well. But booing anyone with a cockerel on his chest is unlikely to help us be successful, and that would be a more important consideration to me than voicing my negative opinion about an individual. Others, obviously, think differently, as they are free to do. I ought to mention I listened to the game, so my opinions about how we played are little more than a guess.
Oh goodness. An Arse... has suddenly come to life Hiag! He's probably waiting for a world disaster before we hear from him again....like Wenger mistaking the ladies toilet for his own. Talking about toilets...has anyone cleaned them at the Emirates?
