Speak of the devil:

BACK TO THE FUTURE? One from a previous transfer window for you here. Yevhen Konoplyanka won't be joining Spurs or Liverpool after Dnipro said he won't be going anywhere. According to the Evening Standard, Inter and Moncao were also interested. Dnipro executive director Andriy Rusol said: “Nobody sells Konoplyanka. He remains in our club.”

Someone should explain what out of contract means to them

Someone will have him next summer for nothing... But not us

My point is that we are not a big draw to the worlds best players and I'm not exactly making it up when it comes to missed targets as they are starting to pile up......

Konoplyanka
Sanchez
Sigurdsson
Salah
Costa
Willian

Of the top of my head.

At the time of negotiations, we could only offer Sanchez CL football. Same goes for Henry Ryan too

This arguement is spurious as 90% of this in my view is money on wages

If we offer the right number they will come and frankly if we play amazing and scrape 4th I will bet a huge number will want to join us... Provided the money is right

Remember if we want to have 4 players we have to pay top 4 wages... End of. England as a whe offers more money than every other league so if Italians are deserting their league to go to Mls it says a lot

We patently are offering unattractive bonus based contracts as a policy that clubs like chelsea better when offering to reserves and potential loaners

Think on this.... When lfC signed Carroll for 35 mil a good fee was 10 mil and we baulked at henderson on 16 mil

Carroll got 90k as a never was on that fee... We were whining about Johnson and reina on 100k

Well today 30 mil is the norm and 200k per week is the going rate isn't it? We are still offering 80/90k

Remember when we were linked with getting eljero elia a few years ago when he was at Hamburg I think it was?

couple goals for saints and could turn out to be another one saints pick up and come in and do the business straight away

Really? And how many clubs can afford to offer that to a substantial number of incoming players?
However many it is, we're not amongst them.
We really have to stop looking at the game as though it's some FM type thing with Monopoly money.

1 in 5 record... Or what was his wages? A mil a goal

I reckon at this point LFC got better value out of lambert

Pity both clubs ****ed themselves eh?

And di you think we need offer it to the next drunken sailor wandering through port?

No if we are serious we would be balancing our buy young policy by targeting 30mil plus buys with serious wages at at maximum 4 players in our squad

As it stands since suarez left gerrard was biggest was and honestly when bloody west ham are paying the similar amounts as we do right now we don't have to look far to wonder why we will be midtable

LFC simply have to pay the going rate if they want to get a top player

Or even a Sanchez who is not actually top tier

And if we don't have it?

I'll answer it for you, we don't get that top player. It's been like that for a while and looks set to continue that way, because like it or not, we don't have that money and unless you want to put the club into hock again, that's how it is.

I agree with your first point, we shouldn't be wasting what money we do have, but it's easy to see the mistakes with hindsight.

Liverpool receive boost as Paris Saint-Germain ‘ready to offload’ Reds transfer target Ezequiel Lavezzi

I hope someone else signs him so we stop being linked with him. His strike rate isn't much better than Lambert's and his best position is where we already have plenty of good players

I wanted him in the summer but have to agree it's not a priority now
