I do think our the sharpness of our passing has declined and think that a lot of this has been due to Leon being injured and not reaching his previous level when he has played. Also Angel is not the player he was although his decline is not as bad as some make out. Now that Gilfi is likely to be out for three games, Ki away and Leon's fitness in doubt we urgently need to sign a quality midfielder this week. I am concerned that we could do a Blackpool and implode. It is quite conceivable that we may struggle to get nine points in our remaining home fixtures although this may be enough.
did i mention Banana skin or did i mention Banana skin well done to Blackburn for capitalising on our weakened side before our sending off after 7 minutes let alone after the sending off. Some of the players we had to send out today are just not good enough, they are not at fault they just dont have it in them...did i expect to lose.....well i thought we were in with a chance of getting something after looking at the team but after 7 minutes i knew we would lose... that's the way it goes
You bloody what....... Who don't have it? Fab - first team Rangel - first team Bartley - was pushing for first team Amat - was pushing for first team Fernandez - first team Tiendalli - well....... Dyer - first team Carroll - first team Shelvey - there or there about the first team Barrow - still youngster Gylfi - first team Gomis - our first team striker What the hell are you smoking, and can I have some one. Some was more like 2 or 3 players at most. Tell me who will we start with against Southampton that didn't play today? Had that been ML, you would have been slagging him off for that **** performance.
Sharpness of passing is an individual skill not for just one player (Leon) but for all, that is coupled with movement off the ball, and executed in cooperation with others. We have degraded individually in passing sharpness and moving off the ball. This is almost systemic - it is happening across almost the entire squad and especially with those players not that technically blessed to start with. It handicaps our ability to absorb an agressive high press and work ourselves out of trouble, in control, when pressured. Our demise against Chelseas 4 man press exposed this. This is a practice thing. This deterioration can only be as a result of the work done in training. I wonder which player will be the first to do a Monk on Monk.
Rangel ...past it amat NGE bartley NGE fernandez. jury out Barrow A lot to learn about passing game gomis not good enough yet. you have to have everyone playing the same game or it does not work....
Our defensive midfield weakness was not addressed at the beginning of the season. Britton duly got injured,Ki has gone for 6 weeks and we look as if we'll ship goals at every opposition attack,as the back four get's ruthlessly exposed. We've sacrificed our best player, best defender as well as our best forward all in one,Bony, for the greed of the big money, and he has been allowed to go. Then there's Shelvey's petulence, which is intolerable, even after a four match ban he was still at it again today.Captain Williams is out for a few weeks, then Tiendalli is preferred to Taylor? Rangel suddenly looks League 1 standard as do others. Dyer and Routledge lacking any skill or effort to beat their man, only to pass back.Six changes today reveal that some of the squad are not even good enough for the Championship, albeit under Monk's leadership anyway.Has he lost the dressing room, the players do not seem to be playing for him any more, and the team selection, tactics, and substitution baffle us all. How on earth are we still ninth in the table?
And Rovers had a number of first team regulars sitting on the bench. We didn't play their strongest XI today until the last 15 or so .... an it showed. Commentators also mentioned that the keeper was the 3rd choice.
So basically we are ****ed then, we should get relegated, as if the likes of Amat and Bartley are not good enough to play championship, and Fernandez is still out, then we only have Ash. Rangel is deffo past it, but still first team, and has been all season. Barrow is still a youngster and will hopefully get better Gomis is our first team striker. We need him to be good enough.
To be fair to the players, they are being sent out my a manager that is out of his depth, so a lot of the blame is his. This was a strong enough team with good enough players. Like Swanselona, I'd like to see your team for Southhampton, if this lot aren't good enough. This is now Monk's team, 100%. Any influence left from the ML days has gone....and frankly we are ****e!
It's not just Monk that needs to take the blame the board and particularly HJ also need to take some Flak for recent performances due to their lack of funding to bring in quality premiership players. It's all well and good to say we are looking for young hungry players to develop but that won't keep you in the Premier league. My advice to the board is to put they're plans to improve the clubs infrastructure on the back burner for now, and ensure we have the funds available to bring in players to stabilise the squad, not in the summer but now in this window. We can then work on the squad in readiness to hit the ground running next season.
Out of his depth by the monk haters maybe but not by fans who know and understand about football we agree with every football pundit and managers throughout the divisions...I wonder who is right..
Agree and listening to his inept post match comments, then it's clear Monk watched a different game to the rest of us, continue like this and Monk will lose the dressing room, if he already hasn't. Gomis is garbage, and so is Shelvey and we need to get rid ASAP, Rangel has deteriorated over night, never seen a playing go bad so quickly. Someone tell me what Monks game plan was today? Because I couldn't see one at all...............
Still waiting on your team choice vs Southampton. Be insteresting to see who you think should play considering so many of todays choices were not good enough in your eyes to play a 2nd string championship side.
Is it me or do some of the regulars just seem disinterested lately? Dyer and Routledge in particular. Why he kept Shelvey on today was beyond me but Tiandelli needs to be shipped and Barrow is not Prem standard yet
What game plan can you have with mediocre players he has at his disposal ? even that goes out the window after 7 minutes We need every best player we have to be good and monk dont have that. we are a team today of aged, past it and simply not good enough so he has a hard job on his hands but he is doing a good enough job in the league and getting the best some of these players have in their locker until he has enough time to replace players with better. this cant be done in a season and monk is on a long term plan to improve the squad over a 3 year period and while doing that he must work out how to stay in the premiership and he is doing that superbly....
