Monk moaning about poor defending from set piece - well, well, well. Like he was so brilliant at set pieces as a player!
Monk we were " containing them" and BBC Wales can't stop mentioning two goals from EX-cardiff players
even with 1 man down for over 80mins we should have bested them somethings rotting at the club ! 20% happy with that only cos of siggys brilliant goal.
Can't bothered to go to the B'burn sites but if any come one here. Well done, deserved the win. Good luck in the next round.
Monk; What an idiot. Take responsibility and show some respect to Blackburn. They looked like the better team all day and playing against 10 isn't easy...unless your Manager doesn't know what he's doing
It's not about the result. It's about how we played it. In cup games **** can happen but class should nonetheless be on display - if it was I missed it. 1v1s were not being won by us (although I thought Fed and Amat did they're job well). Our passing and movement was substandard. When you go down to 10 men quality and leaders step up - too many, Shelvey for example, shrunk away. We've become a fair weather club that doesn't dictate the pattern of play. We have deteriorated in all the key areas of performance. And this is not acceptable. It must be down to training and practice - clearly the players are not being prepared properly ..... or they're "attitude" is terrible.
I haven't worried much at all about our direction as a club this season even after last week but now I am seriously concerned. One poster called for Monk's head before kickoff today and I felt that was wrong but I'm now having a rethink. That display was shocking today and he has to carry the can. His ludicrous post match comments aren't helping.
It's a site in name only. Little activity. They were the better team throughout for my money. Sigurdsson's goal gave some false, undeserved hope, but the speed of their equaliser meant there was only one team going to win. Swans' have hit a new low,and there are so many holes in the ship,I'm not sure where to start patching. Southampton should considerably improve their goal difference next game up.
Still had enough ball to control game, we again took the lead. Winning would have been difficult but possible for the team swansea used to be, controlling possession. But even when 1-1 we should have been able to hold out and bring them back to Liberty. When are Leon and Ashley due back, we need their fighting spirit.
Unlike Rodgers in the play off against Forest where Taylor was sent off in the opening minutes. Masterful performance by him.
I didn't think Blackburn were that much better considering it was 11 against 10 for most of the game. Inf act taking that into account I thought they were rather disappointing. It wasn't until the last 10 minutes when obviously the effort of playing one man short was taking it's toll that they scored the winner. The third goal was down to a goalkeeping error.
It's been a gradual decline IMO. Our early good start to the season gave a us a boost that is making us look better than we are. I know we need to be careful of not setting expectations too high, but we should continue to make progress and we are not doing that under Monk. Now is the time to make a change. Either bring in an experienced mentor for Monk (which he might not like, but tough) or change Manager. I'm not if the board have the courage to make the change though. Monk seems to have them under a spell
