He's out of contract at the end of the season, we weren't going to get much of a fee anyway. We might get a bit of compensation as he's under 23, but probably nothing major. He might even have had a clause in his contract letting him leave for a full time contract elsewhere.
Wigan boss Malky Mackay confirms Hull City interest in McManaman By Charlie Firth ⋅ January 23, 2015 ⋅ please log in to view this image Four Premier League clubs are chasing the 23-year-old. West Bromwich Albion have made two bids for him this week, both of which have been swiftly rejected by the Lactics. In his press conference, Mackay said: “There’s been no formal bid but there’s been an enquiry. There’s been an enquiry from a few clubs but I have great respect for Steve Bruce so I don’t want to say any more than that.” And on the bids from West Brom, he said: “The second bid has been rejected, that’s where we are with that.” Wigan want to keep McManaman in order to help them make a great escape from relegation this season. McManaman is a product of the Everton youth academy. He moved to Wigan in 2006 as a youngster and made his first team debut in May 2009 and joined Blackpool on loan in the 2011/2012 season and has made 72 appearances in total for Wigan, scoring ten.
It's fair enough I guess, they did put out a half decent side, but nothing anywhere near as good as the teams that play in Belgium. It could be a swap deal, they've got a few decent prospects. Kylian Hazard (younger brother of Thorgan and Eden) plays there, while Jonathan Benteke (younger brother of Christian) has just broken into their first team. They also have former Arsenal trainee Chuks Aneke playing for them.
SSN "LENNON SET FOR EXIT? Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino insists he wouldn't get in the way if Aaron Lennon wants to leave the club. The 27-year-old winger has struggled to hold down a starting spot this season and several Premier League clubs have been reported to be interested. Talking ahead of their FA Cup clash with Leicester tomorrow, Pochettino says he would understand if any player wanted to leave if they weren't playing enough and that Lennon was included on that list." HE'S COMING TO 'ULL, HE'S COMING TO 'ULLLL, AARON LENNON, HE'S COMING TO 'ULL!!! (Hopefully)
Simon Peach @SimonPeach Pochettino was coy on reports linking Aaron Lennon with #HCAFC (aka #THFC 2012) He's a sports journalist for the Press Association, covering London and the South East.
Is Bruce using Wigan to get Lennon on a loan? Spurs seem to have relaxed their stance on only selling him, now they're saying if we work a deal to buy in summer we can have him on loan!!!!!!
It's on the net, malky has stated that he's had a conversation with Bruce about McManaman and wouldn't say anything else due to the respect he has for Bruce, then spurs come out with they'll loan Lennon provided a deal in summer is made now. 2 and 2 is always 4....
If we were to get Lennon, where will that leave Ince and Elmo? Lennon is great as a right winger but he couldn't factor in a 352. He be an exciting prospect, but we have several players who could play wide right already
Irish Independent report we're in for Ipswich's Daryl Murphy. He's 31. http://www.independent.ie/sport/soc...-making-a-move-for-daryl-murphy-30930325.html
Elmo is playing right back anyway and Ince is generally playing on the left. We're now 3/1 favourites to sign Lennon.
absolute crazy to let karim Rossi leave, Bruce is coming across as somebody who doesn't like to give the new talent a go, I understand he has set up an academy and so forth but what is the point if we are not going to bring someone through. either he has a good eye and doesn't rate them or doesn't have a clue what he's doing! its a major concern to me that he will play aluko or ramirez up front but not play a youth player, yeah Rossi etc lack Premier League experience but I could name alot of players who are all in that boat but get given the chance, Harry Kane for instance.
