    :D

Well if the rumours about Carroll being available for £5 million are true, I'll be peeved if we don't sign him.

We've just spent 1.75 million on the next Glenn Hoddle (not my words) ,Matt Grimes so does he not have a chance of playing either defensive or attacking midfield , something which he can do ,or did we buy him just to prevent other Clubs having him . I appreciate in the scheme of thing the money wasn't large but the Club must have seen something in him .

Fully agree. We are not a club that is going to be able to spend 30-40 million on 3-4 players.
Sane as Naughton, we've been chasing him for a long time so Monk obviously rates him yet that move is criticised before he's put a Swansea shirt on.

Another very attack minded player by all account and young -potential? In buckets full. But we need to be competing today as well as next year or the year after. As we have seen with Ki, Shelvey and Gylfi attacking midfield players don't necessarily cut it as defensive midfield payers, in fact the three have been bit of a each out when playing that deep (Ki better than others tbd).

In my day Ki, Shelvey, Emnes, Barrow, Grimes and Gylfi would have been called inside forwards (Ivor) while the position we are looking for in front of the back line would have been Centre Half (Herbie) .. this makes sense if you are over 50.

    You bloody old timers <whistle>

Bob we have now accumulated great strength in depth in the CM/CAM area. Players like Grimes (if he is this good) only come around once in a while. Get our Schneiderlin now and our midfield will then be very strong.

Anyways, are you complaining gecause we signed an attacking player? ;)

    Me complain? The very thought.
No problems with Grimes but if we don't look after the now there may not be a tomorrow.
It is time we brought in a specialist alongside / take over from Leon - Carroll is ideal from what I've seen and M'Vila could a good option as a tough tackling CDM. Just a case of Monk being able to deal with a player with his reputation (not a go at Monk, quite a few managers have failed to control the 'wild one).
