As a father of daughters FGM fills me with absolute horror but similarly this video of the circumcision of boys will fill you with horror too. Be warned it is not for the feint hearted.
The big difference between circumcision and FGM is that the former rarely causes long term damage. I cannot imagine mutilation of boys would be performed if it had a high chance of death and caused pain during intercourse. And, although theoretically you could avoid intercourse, women also have ongoing problems with menstruation and childbirth. How can anyone think that it is a good idea to do something that increases the chance of maternal and foetal death
Problem is Fran is that it is rooted in the subjugation of women. It has nothing to do with any logical benefit to the individual. All cultures, deeply rooted in the extreme control of women, do it. Their excuse is to curb promiscuity. I'd castrate the blokes. That would achieve the same end.
If you think female mutilation is worse then male you haven't read what some jewish communities do. Both are equally as bad.
How about we all just agree to be anti-mutilation. Mutilation is rarely a word used in positive context!
CNN coming to my school on Wednesday to film a report about childhood obesity (a particular problem here). Going to film all the little butterballs at breaktime eating Pringles and candy.
We had the national news team at our school while i was there (a piece about adults getting high school certification) and i remember the panning shot of the main courtyard stopped right at were our lot were sat. Might've had something to do with us using deodorant cans to make flamethrowers and stripping down for the camera. We ended up chucking waterbombs/drink bottles at the film crew and their expensive equipment from the next building over until they left our school. PS. Yes i was one of the kids those PSA's warned you about.
Result no more Adrian! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...t-Mark-Pougatch-takes-over.html#ixzz3PdniibgR
Here it's that there's so little space to play outside. Makes London look rural. Most of these kids just watch TV or play on their iPads.
Must admit a lightening of the spirit. What is it about Chiles..? Is it because he's so mediocre..? Mark Pougatch is a pretty sound and good all-rounder. Not exactly loaded with personality, and if ITV really wanted someone top notch then they should have got Chappers [Mark Chapman], who has become a real TV football presenter over the last couple of years. He's always been good on radio though. I would love to see Colin Murray back presenting a football show, just for the banter he gets going with the pundits. Always irreverent, and it's no bad thing to pop the balloon of multi-millionaire guests.
And health and safety accounts for the rest of the reason why they won't take risks anymore. The modern world is geared to produce unfit, fat, bloated children who'll die before their parents because they have fatty, weak hearts and livers, weak respiratory systems, contaminated digestive systems, weak and thin muscles and bones, the list is endless. Oh, and they are unmotivated as well because everything they want they already have. Move to the countryside quick, where there are open spaces to walk and run in [I know there are because I still do it every week]..!
He tries to make every comment humorous and himself the star of the show. He should be leaving a question open and allow the football experts to display their knowledge. They answer, but you always feel that he isn't listening, but is just waiting for the next opening for one of his 'clever' remarks.
Should be the guy that stood in for him a few times (can't remember his name). Edit: Colin Murray. (Thanx TSS)
