Everton and Newcastle have moved into top 20 for first time....give us a few years and that will be us. Of course this is just revenue...profit is the most important figure.

Depends how you look at it?
The more revenue the more you can spend on players wages, transfers etc etc sometimes eroding profit to very little but you may get more chance of success on the pitch

We will be reinvesting more than most at the moment because we are still in the building phase. As long as Katharina doesn't need funds for new handbags and shoes we should be fine :)

    Totally agree.
Ralph just needs to get us into the top 20 (hopefully 15) and then we have a much better chance of competing with "The Big Boys" on all levels
Full marks to all at Saints. They have done a fantastic job over the last 5 years and the next 5 years could be equally exciting!

Tottenham earn twice as much as we do, and they can't compete with the big boys. It's a tough task.

But Atletico earns less than Tottenham does, and they played in the CL final. so it shows that money is not all that matters, we should just continue to invest wisely and continue punching above our weight, just like Atletico does.

I assume this' Revenue ' calculation includes all the summer fire sale transfer fees received and smaller offsets for stage payments on players purchased, makes quite a difference to actual 'Revenues' from receipts, merchandising etc. Just a question, not meaning to upset your apple cart!<whistle>

Be interested to see where Portsmouth are.

They seem to have a fire sale throughout the season. <laugf>

What was it last season? Something like over 50 players used <doh> Maybe they thought the more players they used, the more 'fans' they had.

Includes Matchday, Broadcasting and Commercial, so doesn't reflect profit, only revenue (and won't include transfer fees in or out). It is for last season, so anyway depends where the cut off is (and that is not made clear).

That's no doubt true, and probably the same reason why the likes of Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea and West Ham have similar revenues. It's the transfer fees they received in the summer, innit?

Heard about this on Radio 5 last night. When asked the question how clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United can be the top 2 richest clubs when they spend so much money every season, a representative from Deloitte explained that it was only a measure of the top line, ie the income to clubs. It doesn't take into account overall expenditure. Therefore the list is complete bollocks.

The representative admitted that later in every year they produce a table of the bottom line, when the list is far more realistic. Look out for it next October.

Oh for another 10k full seats at every home game!
Would bring in between £7.5-£10m including seat tickets, merchandise etc
Wonder how much our very poorly performing corporate/commercial income is doing since Cortese has gone?

Our attendances are heading in the right direction, no doubt assisted by our recent form. After 22 league games our average home attendance is 30,514, which is 93.3% of capacity. Last season the average was 30,211. If we could start averaging over 95% (more than 31,054) it would hopefully give the board the message that stadium expansion would be sustainable, with the increased revenue that would bring.

I've read that the stadium has been sold out 8 times straight this season, after a slow start of slightly below average gates because of the understandable bewilderment of supporters. However, that recovered very quickly indeed. Over the Premier League years St Mary's has kept on telling us that it is too small, and I think the present boardroom know this. Cortese believed it because he actually said so on several occasions. Problem is, how do you make the cost of increasing capacity financially viable..? It's obvious that 36-40K would be ideal at present. Loads of supporters, who can only go occasionally, would turn up. And they would generate more permanent supporters eventually. So would 40K be big enough in years to come..? Nicola said 50K eventually. Seems a stretch of the imagination at present, but part of a chairman's job is to look ahead. Not just preside over what is happening right now.

About the same, as far as I know. Not sure what the terms on the Veho deal are, but I'd expect commercial income to climb significantly hereafter.

I got the impression that our model of supporting local industry would continue, that could easily change if we get European football but it wouldn't surprise me if we kept using local companies as primary sponsor.

As for the stadium I wouldn't expect anything soon. The board would be well aware of the influx due to our current performance so i think they'll wait either for the club to establish itself near the top of the table or for attendance to remain the same despite a drop in performance/table position. If either of those happen the absolute earliest i can imagine an expansion announcement would be the end of the 15/16 season.
