Considering how pressing our need for a striker is, I'm amazed we haven't been linked with more of them.
I like that, though when we did have a midfielder in the Koren mode, all he did was get slagged off for not chasing around like a headless chicken kicking people.
Looks like Alberto Gilardino wants to head back west from his chinese adventure. Probably next to no chance of him wanting to join us. But he's exactly what we need. He'd guarantee us staying up.
Apparently it's a cut price deal as he wants out and there's no contract on the table for him. At that price we'd almost certainly be interested.
If that is the situation we need to get in there quick. We know Palace and WBA are competing with us for strikers and wingers.
If Bruce can produce a striker to score enough goals to stay up for £1.5 million that will be akin to turning water into wine
I don't really understand this one, they've already turned down a £4m bid from West Brom, I can't believe we're going to try and outbid them. He's a good player and it obviously looks like we're trying to sign a winger and a striker, but this one looks too rich to me.
maybe we will pay £3mill for Mcmanaman with add ons if we stay up and so on! also read on skysports that WBA want s.ameobi, hope we have dodged that bullet!!
Alan Nixon on Twitter. Freelance sports journo. Used to write for The Mirror, now sells stories to The Sun instead. I read the Dame N'Doye snippet this morning and asked if he knew if there was any truth in it. He said we are, and the quoted price is £1.5m. Told me he's not the only striker we're looking at though, but said at the moment a move for N'Doye is ' a live one'. He told me the other week we were in for Gestede, made a loan offer with a view to a perm. Blackburn came back with a fee or nothing at all - we baulked at the fee and left it to West Brom and Palace. Same with Mcmanaman. We baulked at price and left it to West Brom. Things change in football though, so who knows? Huddersfield fans we getting excited about Le Fondre last night, today he's changed his mind.
