Cracking down on what the club considers over exuberance and asking them to be quiet are two different things which Imwould have thought was obvious. The fans response was to sit in total, silence. It must have been like having a ground with all four sides like the West Stand.
The ones who sneer and jeer are the ones killing the atmosphere, they encourage people to sit down and be quiet because no one with any tiny sense of modesty or dignity would want to associate with such knuckle dragging ****ers. Fans are supposed to be together behind the team, but they cause a divide worse than anything that **** Allam could ever dream of causing. They're like a plague, and they should be eradicated.

I know it's a different topic but is this still the case? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tracts-fourth-highest-attendances-Europe.html
It was never the case, it was a stat produced by SSN and then everyone jumped on it without properly looking into it. Notice how short the article is and lacking in actual info? There are more games in the Championship and when you took an average attendance it was well below Serie A that season and every other season. I saw another article at the time (if I look i could probably find it but cant be arsed) where someone actually looked into it properly and the Championship was actually well down the list in terms of average attendance.
